New Book!
I am very excited for this one. Anyone who knows me knows that one of my favorite scholars is Imam Ibn Juzay, a distinguished Andalusian scholar from al-Andalus. And among my favorite of his works is his tafsir.
Soon, In shaa Allah, the English translation of his tafsir will finally be on bookshelves. What I love most about this tafsir is how easy it is to read. The explanations are not overly lengthy but you will find much barakah and benefit from reading it. It is one of the best Tafsirs for one learning Arabic to start off with.
Imam Ibn Juzay was also a scholar of the Maliki madhhab, which makes this tafsir valuable for students of Maliki fiqh as well.
It is translated by Aisha Bewley who does amazing work, long with a foward by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and revised by Dr. Sohaib Saeed.
Looking forward to reading it in English.

Us Muslim tech bros hear you loud and clear.
I left Google. I brought in a co-founder who built a $60M health startup. I pulled in a PhD engineer and a PhD Islamic finance scholar.
And we cooked an app that gives you bigger returns than any savings account, and it happens to be zero-interest too.
We can add a qibla compass to it too if you really want.
It’s incredible that went over this phenomenon in class today where we went over the Qur’anic verse, “He who determined their sustenance and guided them.” (Al-A’la, 3)
Some scholars explain that this verse refers to how God guides a baby to latch to its mother’s breast at birth
My golden hour with my first baby was a mess.
My midwife put him on my chest but never explained what was supposed to happen. I just laid there, clueless. I kept trying to latch him myself but was struggling. Then I got interrupted multiple times for weighing and measuring. My entire breastfeeding journey with my first was a disaster because I went in blind and learned everything the hard way.
By my second, I had a swiss army knife of knowledge from all the research and mistakes. When my midwife placed that baby on my chest, I watched something I'll never forget. She started kicking her tiny legs against my stomach, rooting her head side to side, pushing herself up toward my breast. Within 10 minutes she latched on her own. She did not need my help or guidance. It was pure instinct.
This is called the breast crawl. A newborn placed skin to skin on the mother's chest will use her legs and arms to push herself toward the breast. She can't even see properly yet. Her vision is blurry and she can a max distance of 12 inches. But she doesn't need to see...
She smells the amniotic fluid on the nipple, which smells like the world she just came from. The areola also darkens during pregnancy so the baby can see the contrast even with blurry vision. Between scent, rooting reflex, and the stepping reflex in her legs, she crawls her way there. God designed this so perfectly it's hard to believe.
Too many hospitals still interrupt this by weighing, measuring, and bathing the baby within minutes. Every one of those interruptions breaks the sequence. If you're pregnant, tell your birth team this: nothing happens in the first hour. Baby stays on my chest. Everything else can wait.
As a response to the AMJA/FCNA statement regarding giving Zakāt to political candidates, a group of distinguished young scholars from all four different Orthodox Sunnī legal schools collaborated in order to put together the following website in which they analyzed and critiqued
@joebradford Ask Claude to build you an FAISS database based on your data repository, using semantic chunking (you can use that as your prompt). After that, ask it to make you a chatbot that can make tool calls to search the FAISS database in your answers.

BREAKING: we just defeated @LauraLoomer in court. Again. Here's what happened.
Since 2023, Ms. Loomer has been sending monthly checks to CAIR as the result of a failed lawsuit she once filed against us and @CAIRFlorida (yes, you read that right: America's loudest anti-Muslim extremist has spent years funding America's largest Muslim civil rights group).
Last month, Loomer asked a judge to let her withhold her remaining payments based on @RonDeSantis' unconstitutional proclamation targeting CAIR in Florida. The court just ruled in our favor, ordering Ms. Loomer to finish paying us back.
We look forward to receiving Ms. Loomer's next check and, insha Allah, once again using her to money to defend American Muslims from hate while advancing civil rights for everyone in our nation.
