Nothing could have prepared me for the joy I feel watching Crosby, Malkin, and the Penguins head back into the locker room after being eliminated by the Flyers.
IMO, the way that the firing of Thomson was handled- from the call to Cora on Sunday to letting it linger on Monday to the Dombrowski presser where he took no accountability - was just wrong on so many levels. It was an organizational failure- not just the manager
Not a whole lot for the 2026 Phillies to hang their hat on to this point. The offense, defense, starting pitching and bullpen have all been varying degrees of poor.
Adolis Garcia bats like Castellanos and is slightly better fielding. Not a huge upgrade. Today he actually looked like Nick at the plate — swinging at air. #phillies
People defending Castellanos are meat riders for a dude who didn’t want to be here in the first place and was a cancer to the team.
He literally prevented JT from taking BP before a damn playoff game.
The hand wringing and pearl clutching here by fans makes no sense. He was a sub-par player who wanted to be treated like the superstar he wasn’t. He wasn’t a team guy, but a “me” guy who didn’t produce. No brainer. Get him out.
Anyone who reads this article by @MattGelb & still wants to defend Nick Castellanos, then I don’t know what to tell you. Here are a few excerpts:
“Even before that June 16th incident, many teammates had come to resent Castellanos for his attitude.”
“You can’t disrespect the manager and talk to him the way he did,” one Phillies player said. “You can’t expect it all to be the same after that.”
“In the clubhouse, as prominent players distanced themselves from Castellanos, everyone agreed to play nice. It was easier for some than others. Many had a difficult time overcoming what they believed was an unforgivable act committed by Castellanos.”
“But Castellanos, many of his teammates argued, was not a team player.”
