The Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR), consisting of eminent lawyers and civil rights activists led by @pbhushan1 have demanded immediate resignation of BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra.

The call for @MishraManan01’s resignation has grown even louder with this statement. Why should there be no probe into the financial decisions of the BCI Chairman, especially when Co-chairman’s morning letter accused him of misappropriation and sought his resignation on that ground?

So far, associations associated with the NALSAR and NLSIU law colleges have condemned Mishra. Bombay Bar Association, independent lawyers at a protest, Co-chairman of BCI, and now CJAR have demanded his resignation.

Aakriti is in jail for 5 months under NSA which permits incarceration for up to a year without trial for her role in Noida Workers protests.

Now in jail, she is teaching the children of women inmates. 🐒

UP Govt alleges a book “Great Martyrs of the Indian Revolution” was recovered from her. 🐒

Not only that she also joined a “library in Karawal Nagar, Delhi” run by a co-accused.

UP Govt also found that she is a member of Revolutionary Workers Party of India (RWPI)..... which is not a banned organisation. 🐒

Chronology :
Aakriti was picked up by some plain cloth policemen on April 11 at 7.04 p.m. from Botanical Garden metro station.

And, She is accused of inciting violence on 13 April in Noida Workers protests.

And her counsel told the court that police summoned her on a B-warrant on April 17 in the case.

Also, in one chargesheet, Akriti’s phone is said to have been found in her bag at a location near the Noida Phase 2 police station on April 26.

After completing her MA in modern history, Aakriti qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET) and was currently preparing for research.

And nevertheless, she used to educate children and women domestic workers in slums.

But the most serious concern is that she can sing, being a theatre artist. Very dangerous.

I think she should be shown no mercy and be allowed to rot for the next few hundred years in jail.

So does this Supreme Court judge want @MahuaMoitra to take bullets? What kind of motormouth persons have we appointed as judges? Is this the judicial temperament we expect of constitutional court judges? This is why we need to fix judicial accountability.

The statement is condemnation worthy. Especially when you know about the dire state of affairs in Bengal. If tomorrow anything happens to Ms. Moitra, this bench led by Justice Dipankar Datta will be responsible. He should be ashamed of his conduct. In any functional democracy, such judges would’ve been compelled to resign or be impeached!

After much reflection, and after it became clear to me that some UN seniors are serving a powerful lobby and not the UN, I have decided to suspend all my duties as PVA Main Representative at the UN and from all UN committees/groups of which I am a member.

I cannot in good conscience be part of or witness to what is happening at a time when the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use.
