The fight against Lassa fever goes beyond responding to outbreaks. It also requires investing in the research that makes prevention possible.

A newly launched study in Nigeria led by the University of Maryland School of Medicine Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD), @IHVNigeria and @ATBUTHBauchi, will follow Lassa fever survivors over 12 months to better understand the immune responses associated with recovery and protection.

Its findings will provide critical evidence for future vaccine trials while strengthening Nigeria's research capacity, community engagement, and preparedness for future Lassa fever outbreaks.
