Different countries, ages, and personalities; one steady line of colorful backpacks inching up the mountain. Our adventure began in the village of Kilomeni - nestled among the Pare mountains - as we unloaded the bus and gazed up at the peak before us.

We followed the narrow trail as it wove through farms and small houses before staggering upwards among cactuses and shrubby BLA trees that offered little protection from the insistent sun.
