1/ A few thoughts on why I (@merz) started this account. The UW is an amazing place for life science. It's one of the top three institutions for extramural NIH funding and it's ranked #10 in the current US News Global Universities survey.

@rburdine1 One quibble here. "Reading papers that are interesting but not related to our work," throughout one's career, is CRITICAL for success as an independent scientist. IMO.
