It appears the realignment has come early or perhaps it has already begun. This is how the likes of David Umahi and other self-acclaimed Igbo leaders from the Southeast may eventually lament the marginalization of the Igbo when the APC decides to rotate the presidency to another zone.
Good morning, Governor Hope Uzodimma.
@PeterObi The way Peter Obi is being treated reveals just how difficult it is for a South Easterner to become President of Nigeria, especially when even gaining the full support of his own kinsmen remains a challenge.
The resilience of Nigerians comes from the religious belief that whatever happens is God’s will. Politicians exploit this mindset by aligning with influential religious leaders, who then encourage citizens to endure hardship rather than question governance and demand accountability.
Recent events, and the reactions of many Nigerians to them, continue to prove two uncomfortable truths “fools also grow old,” and education does not always translate to wisdom.
Wike vs Wike: A family fight, exposing how broken our democracy is. As the drama unfolds, two things are certain: either the politicians will destroy themselves, or the people will finally wake up to their true power. Until then, we're just spectators. #RiversState
@ChuksEricE Now I understand why people flock to his church. Beyond the comic relief, he remains consistent in speaking truth to the realities of our society.
The actions and style of governance of the once-Reverend Father who now serves as Governor of Benue State perhaps illustrate the wisdom behind the Catholic Church’s longstanding restrictions on priests engaging in partisan politics and holding political office.
A priest is expected to remain a spiritual father to all regardless of political affiliation and partisan politics can easily compromise that neutrality and the moral authority associated with the priesthood.
Unfortunately, in my view, some of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s actions and approach to governance have done little to uphold the values many expected his priestly background to represent. Instead, they risk bringing unnecessary ridicule to the faith and institution with which he has long been associated.
Certainly not something to admire.
@officialABAT@NGFSecretariat As I’ve always maintained, our leaders know exactly what they’re doing: keep the masses impoverished, then sprinkle temporary relief during election season to secure their votes.
The political class will stop at nothing to keep Nigerians distracted. Instead of addressing the concerns raised by the Catholic Bishops, the focus has shifted to attacking Cardinal Onaiyekan. A healthy democracy thrives on constructive criticism, not the silencing of dissent.
