Upgrading of bioethanol to acetaldehyde is industrially relevant; but we need more stable catalysts! In this @Chem_Eng_J, we disclose the one-step preparation of mesoporous Cu-SiO2 catalysts with good performance and enhanced stability (vs. sintering)

A new critical review in Electrochimica Acta on the timescales in electrochemistry and how the reaction environment should be simulated. A mini thread follows⬇️ https://t.co/4lGDJOZIaU
🇹🇭 We are giving away four of these #AmazingThailand travel bags to four of our lucky followers. All you need to do is “click like and retweet” by Tuesday 7th February. We will then pick four random winners. Good luck!
#Thailand#Giveaway
I have two #AmazingThailand desktop calendars to give away to two of my followers. Just click like and then retweet and I will pick two winners at random on Friday.
* The only condition is that you must live in Thailand as I will send the calendars myself by EMS.

A very timely paper from @yogi_chem illustrating the limitation of conventional Pt ring disc electrochemistry in determining H2O2 produced during O2 reduction in organic solvents during homogeneous catalysis. https://t.co/GxjTfVAQJi
We are thrilled to announce we have, at least, one Ph.D. and one Postdoc position to work in catalyst deactivation of different biorefinery processes. Please share, and if interested leave us a DM.

Next Thurs (online):
Prof. David Harrington (U. Victoria), a leading expert in electrochemical impedance (EIS), will explain how to correctly construct equivalent circuits for electrochemical interfaces.

Great News! If you ever wondered how the substrate conductivity can affect the activity of your thin-film catalysts check our new paper led by @mohammadfereid7 https://t.co/KyRDUDITcV
His key messages (which I keep repeating all the time) concern publishing, funding, careers of younger scientists, and true impact and value of science:
1. Electrochemists produce a huge numbers of papers: “Now electrochemistry comes probably on place two following biochemistry”
15 years ago my PhD advisor taught me One Weird Trick for editing your own writing. Edit **back to front**, paragraph by paragraph. I still use it and it still surprises me how well it works. When I get my students to do it, it often blows their minds. Try it!
