i'll play devil's advocate: we've had cartoon characters in advertising for donkeys. familiarity breeds trust more than "realness".
AI characters with heart and consistent personality can do the job of a human, and i'll think we'll see more AI celebrities, but these will be obviously AI generated with a lot of effort spent developing their personalities
@thesamparr the last time i looked into oxytocin taking it as a "supplement" didn't work, body only "accepted" naturally generated oxytocin. know nothing about peptides or how that alters oxytocin intake though
@immad this is the trillion $ question.
reason for 2: agents switching costs are already low
more likely: 2-3 general agents for most things, with lots and lots of vertical agents for specific things. this is kind of the apple/android analogy for mobile
@wickedguro people forget writing code and engineering are different disciplines. AI solved the first, the second is still pretty hard and can't be prompted into existence without thinking hard about it
@flexaboiL@nizzyabi i'm building a company brain product and this is the conclusion i've arrived at. i would also give ceo/management their own org brain to help keep eye on things from org level
Reading both sides of the Goodreads debate is fascinating for product makers.
My take is Goodreads needs a small update - list building, search, some kind of AI integration as @thesamparr says.
Core is already solved - community, trust, vast reviews. Tinker not overhaul.
The only reason I love @goodreads and have spent 17 years on it is because it's protected from product guys with an addiction to changing up things and actually has major league readers.
The last bastion of community, consistency and safety among social networks.
@HireFireTeam love this and i bet there is going to be value in reusing characters across campaigns. familiar faces people remember across a brand's socials.
@eriktorenberg these things exist as verticals already and that's prob the right shape. it's the sort of thing YC calls a tarpit idea - sounds good on paper but wouldn't work in reality
