A final agreement between NORED and the Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) has been reached, bringing to an end the strike that began last Thursday.

The agreement was reached between the board and the union following a lengthy intervention by Justice and Labour Relations Minister Fillemon Wise Immanuel, who has been in a closed-door meeting the whole morning and hours till late at night with the two parties. The meeting concluded with an agreement ending the three-day strike, providing for the 14th check and a 4 percent salary increase for 2025/26, followed by a 4.3 percent increment for 2026/27.

Employees are expected to return to work with immediate effect tomorrow.

Jubilant scenes were witnessed as workers welcomed the outcome, with many expressing relief that their expectations had finally been met.

Wise Immanuel is also happy that an agreement was reached and employees can now return to work to serve the nation diligently.

I was shocked to see that the man who sat beside me was bare footed, then I noticed that he was a mad man. The mad man looked at me , smiling and said " the way they are going to beat you up here today ? Only God will save you!" 😭😭

I went to a restaurant with just R50 to eat. So I ordered food R40 . As I sat down to eat , a man sitting besides me and putting on a nice shirt said to me "mam , I love the way you are eating , you can add more food , I will pay" .

I quickly added more food of R80,that guy then told me again" you eat so well add 2 bottles of soft drinks so that you can drink after eating" . I made the order after drinking 1 bottle I tried opening the 2nd bottle , the opener fell down and I bent over to pick it up.

We were in the car after a long day, both of us exhausted. He was on the phone with a friend through the speakers, and they were talking about life, work, stress… all of it.
