Join the Vale of Glamorgan Community Cohesion Group @ValeCohesion
I am proud to Chair the Vale of Glamorgan Community Cohesion Group, and I encourage all those involved in community work, public bodies, charities, and third sector organisations to join us in our mission to build stronger, more cohesive communities. The group brings together a diverse range of stakeholders, from local residents to key agencies, working collaboratively to enhance communication, reduce tensions, and promote transparency.
Our focus is on ensuring that everyone feels heard and supported. By tackling critical issues such as hate crimes, antisocial behavior, and domestic abuse, we aim to create an environment where individuals from all walks of life can thrive. The data we review and the discussions we hold help shape policies and strategies that directly benefit the community.
As Chair, I’m committed to bridging diverse perspectives and working alongside dedicated individuals who share a passion for improving society. Through our collaboration, we can prevent isolation, build trust, and ensure that every person feels valued.
Community cohesion is everyone’s responsibility, and by joining us, you’ll have the chance to influence positive change in the Vale of Glamorgan. Together, we can make our community a place of inclusion, support, and mutual respect.
For more information, please refer to the attached flyer. Let’s come together to build a brighter, more cohesive future for all.

I recently had the honour of being installed as Lower Warden of the Worshipful Company of Educators at our Annual Assembly held at the historic Barber-Surgeons' Hall in the City of London.
Standing before the Master, fellow Wardens, Clerk, Liverymen and Freemen to read my Declaration of Office and formally commit myself to serving the Company over the coming year, was a deeply special moment, one I will cherish for many years to come. I am incredibly grateful for the trust placed in me and for the immense support I have received throughout my journey with the Company.
Following the formal proceedings, on what was a beautifully warm afternoon and evening, we were joined by guests on the terrace and in the gardens, set against the remarkable backdrop of the remains of the original Roman London Wall, a fitting reminder of the deep history and traditions that continue to shape the City today.
We then moved into the magnificent Great Hall, dominated by the famous Holbein painting of King Henry VIII uniting the Barbers and Surgeons Companies in 1541, a powerful symbol of heritage, learning and professional excellence.
Our guest speaker, the Rt Hon Ruth Kelly, spoke thoughtfully about critical thinking and the importance of human connection in an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Her reflections were timely and thought-provoking.
I want to place on record my sincere thanks to those who have supported and encouraged me since my admission into the Company, especially our Gallant and Learned Clerk, many Past Masters, and fellow members whose guidance, mentorship and friendship have helped shape this journey. Without their belief and encouragement, this milestone would not have been possible.
I also want to pay tribute to both the outgoing Renter Warden, who has had a fantastic few years and now joins the Court. And our Immediate Past Master, who has had an exceptional and demanding year of service. He has led from the front with dedication, energy and vision, and leaves a strong foundation for us to build upon.
I now look forward to a busy and purposeful year supporting our new Master, particularly as he explores the important theme of faith and education, two subjects that continue to shape character, values and society itself.
Education remains one of the greatest tools we have to transform lives, break barriers and create opportunity. In every generation, it gives people the chance not only to learn, but to think, question, grow and contribute. Its importance has never been greater.
An honour to attend the Dinner to His Majesty’s Judges at Mansion House, given by the @citylordmayor.
My sincere thanks to @CarolineHaine15, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Educators, for the very kind invitation.
The evening brought together colleagues from the judiciary, the Livery, Parliament, Aldermen, Peers and many others in public life. More than anything, it was genuinely uplifting to be in a room with so many people whose work and example have inspired me over the years.
The Dinner to His Majesty’s Judges is a tradition which can trace its origins back to the sixteenth century. The programme noted that as early as 1568, it was customary for the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and Aldermen of the @cityoflondon to attend a service at @StPaulsLondon at the beginning of the Law Term, followed by dinner with members of the judiciary. Today, the dinner continues to reaffirm the shared commitment of the City and the judiciary to champion the rule of law.
Held in the historic setting of Mansion House, the official residence and working home of the Lord Mayor, the evening was also a powerful reminder of the City’s long-standing role at the heart of civic, legal and commercial life.
The Lady Mayor spoke powerfully about the importance of the rule of law, trusted institutions and the UK’s global reputation for legal excellence. English law continues to command confidence across the world, with two in every five cross-border business and financial transactions using English law.
It was encouraging to hear the Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, speak about judicial diversity and the importance of ensuring that the judiciary is open to talent from all walks of life, while maintaining appointment on merit. At a time when women are leading both the judiciary and the City, and with the first Black Lord Chancellor in office, the evening also reflected something important about public service, representation and opportunity.
The Lady Chief Justice also reminded us that our courts and tribunals continue to evolve, but that the shared commitment of the judiciary, government and the City remains the delivery of justice for all, without fear or favour.
The City of London Corporation continued investment in the future of justice, including the £600m Salisbury Square development, was another important theme of the evening. With new courts dedicated to economic and cyber crime, alongside the new @CityPolice HQ, it will further strengthen the City’s position as a world-leading centre for legal excellence.
A wonderful morning at Guildhall Yard for the @CoopersCompany Annual Cask Race.
The Upper Warden, fellow Liverymen and I were proud to represent the Worshipful Company of Educators for the third time. Each year we seem to be getting a little quicker and this year we achieved our best times yet. We may not have lifted the trophy, but we are certainly improving year on year.
Congratulations to the Worshipful Company of Distillers and @HCav1660 on their winning performance.
As always, the event brought together the very best of the Livery: fellowship, good humour, friendly competition and a few slightly tired legs by the end.
It was good to catch up with the Master @WCoFuellers, Master @Carmen_Company and members of the @LondonFreemen.
I was pleased to see serving officers from the @spectaclemakers military affiliations, 31st (Middlesex Yeomanry and Princess Louise’s Kensington) Signal Squadron @R_Signals, whom I had the pleasure of visiting last year with the Master to present awards.
We were also joined by the @citylordmayor and @cityoflondon Sheriff, which added to a very special City occasion.
My thanks to the Worshipful Company of Coopers for hosting such an enjoyable and well-organised event. We look forward to returning next year, hopefully a little faster again
