El sábado en medio de un concierto de jazz, leyendo una carta que la Ali me mandó por mi cumple, me di cuenta de donde estoy y donde he llegado. Gracias vida ❤️🩹
Today is 156th birth anniversary of Maria Skłodowska-Curie who was born #OnThisDay in 1867. Marie Curie was a Polish-born French physicist and chemist who made groundbreaking discoveries in the field of radioactivity. She is widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of all time.
She discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, which emit powerful rays of energy. She named polonium after her native country, Poland.
She coined the term radioactivity to describe the phenomenon of atoms breaking down and releasing energy.
She developed methods to isolate and measure the amount of radium in different substances. She also determined the atomic weight of radium.
She applied her knowledge of radioactivity to the field of medicine and pioneered the use of radiation to treat cancer and other diseases. She also invented mobile X-ray units, called “Little Curies”, to help wounded soldiers during World War I.
