@sheanorling Not to mention 99th percentile behind the plate. My value rankings have him 2nd most valuable catcher in AL, only behind Baldwin in the MLB
@TD19blackhawks@ChiSoxFanMike Nahh. The angels farm system is thin and their roster is thin. Theyd happily trade 2 pitchers that will most definitely be FA before theyre ready to compete to get 3 prospect bats that can play everyday plus 2 young arms.
@Arodsox@Alexand32974990@AnnoyedSoxFan@FutureSox Not even trying to hate on peyton bc I think he has great potential. But to suggest kicking davis to the curb when guys like trevor richards, jordan hicks, brandon eisert, chris murphy, and jordan leasure have been getting a plethora of innings for this team is insane.
@Arodsox@Alexand32974990@AnnoyedSoxFan@FutureSox Hes pitched ONE inning. Pallette dealt to a tune of a mid 5s ERA while Davis is at a mid 3s. Luisangel acuna was a highly touted prospect and tristan peters was a savannah banana, who would you rather have in CF? Comparing where they were found is irrelevant, its MLB performance.
@MolloyOnBase He faced the same team back to back outings, they got to him the 4th time through the order counting both starts. Cut the guy some slack.
@JamesFox917 Im on emerson for the higher upside. I want continuity, so when certain guys move on/dont pan out, we have someone waiting in the wings. I dont want to just take the guy who is ready ASAP. I want the guy with the highest ceiling. But I have little reason to not trust Getz and co.
Jacob Gonzalez gets the call!
The White Sox 2023 1st round selection has found his groove in AAA this season with an excellent 1.097 OPS, including 19 HR. His raw power shines through in his high-end exit velocities which he supports with above average contact rates
Congrats!
@SoxMach_pnoles Here's his statcast data compared to colson. Idc where hes been hitting; his quality of contact has been good. This batted ball data should play anywhere.
@Matteberflus1@JamesFox917 Venable constructs the lineup religiously based on handedness, so I doubt he starts, but I bet he'll PH right when DET goes to the pen. But he has been decent against LHP in a limited sample
@DawngMalone@DannyMillerFS It should be gonzalez/grichuk replacing the roles of beni/acuna. Gonzalez plays vs every righty at DH or any infield spot to give the starters a day off in the field. Grichuk plays vs every lefty in either OF or DH
@jacobandrewlong@soxmachine_josh As long as we dont lose the season or any portion ill be happy. Its finally fun to watch the sox again so I dont wanna lose that after the last few miserable years
@jacobandrewlong@soxmachine_josh Ahh didnt realize that, this was the first post I saw on it so I just took the raw numbers. From this and spotrac. Nonetheless, I think its a tremendous starting point.
@DawngMalone I think its just bc hes older for an A ball player, but he was drafted last year so he never even played in the Nats system so ill take it.
@DawngMalone Yeah we DFA'd him during spring training but nats traded for him to bypass waiver priority. Bc if he went on waivers, the worst record teams get first dibs on him. Nats were probably worried another team would get him before them, so they offered boston smith lol
