(bhasmāyudhāya vidmahe raktanetrāya dhīmahi tanno jvaraharaḥ pracodayāt —Let us meditate upon the one who wields the weapon of ash and possesses red eyes. May that divine healer who destroys fevers inspire and guide our intellect.

This mantra declares that vibhūti possesses the śakti and power to remove ailments such as fever. Therefore, in our Maṭha, every evening in the Chandramoulīśvara sannidhi, we have instructed people to do pārāyaṇa of the Indrākṣi Śiva kavacham and encourage pārāyaṇa of the Indrākṣi Śiva kavacham during yātras as well. This pārāyaṇa was conducted for many years whenever qualified people were available, and continues even today.
We have also released the Indrākṣi Śiva kavacham as an audio cassette. Even though many tapes are available, uccāraṇa (proper pronunciation) is the key feature. The Indrākṣi Śiva‑kavacham describes the mahima (glory) of vibhūti. From the Advaita Sabha founded in 1895 by the Paramaguru of our Mahā Periyavā, Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati Svāmigal, whom our Mahā Periyavā is named after, the renowned scholar Rāju Dīkṣitar of Mannargudi, celebrated as Mannargudi Periyavar, who hails from the lineage of Appayya Dīkṣitar, who served as the principal vidvān of the Sabha, has authored the book Vibhūti‑Rudrākṣa Mahimā. This work has recently been reprinted and published. We have instructed to distribute this book to all archakas.

In it, he elaborates extensively on the mahimā of vibhūti and rudrākṣa dhāraṇa. Since he belonged to the lineage of Appayya Dīkṣitar, who authored Śivārkamaṇi Dīpikā, he has followed the tradition and has composed this work. Vetrivel Muruganukku Arokara! #kamakoti #JagadguruVacanam
