Trucks this size have no place in cities. Don't give me the "tradespeople" line because I know real tradespeople and they don't waste money on vanity lifts. Come at me trucker bros
every college prof with a masters degree "hey guys you can all call me Mike"
every college prof with a PhD "Hi everyone welcome back to class. It's me --your professor-- DOCTOR Mike Michaelson"
Abolish landlords means housing should not be for-profit. Social housing, free to all, can be built now, but ultimately we must abolish capitalism to get beyond people profiting off human need.
(Obligatory more writing on organizing against capitalism at the link in bio 🙏🏻)
@TheTyee I find it strange you included a link to a globeandmail article in it (in text "the process of learning itself") that absolutely slams the new system and focuses on deservedness rather than growth/proficiency (opposite of your article's point, it seems)
@TheTyee Interesting article. Have been wanting to read more on this topic. Still lots more to do to really understand the differences. Balancing honest evaluation with the goals of learning & school seems a wildly complex issue; I don't envy the people who make these decisions.
twitter changing to X has actually been great for my mental health because the X app logo just isn't recognizable to me. when my brain is looking for a distraction/context fix there's just no association with this logo so i basically just stopped using this platform
AI is so bad it can't even get the correct show when its literally spelled out. So glad its being crammed down our throat wherever possible and making search engines worse at obtaining information. Great job, big tech! 👍
@RoyceSouther@CanadaAction Natural gas still has substantial CO2 emissions plus the intense short-term warmings from methane, and LNG further loses its "edge" with the extra energy required for chilling, shipping and conversion back to gas. Its use only serves to delay deployment of renewables.
@RoyceSouther@CanadaAction Maybe if it was guaranteed to decommission coal. With the drastically fallen price of solar installations and fairly minimap improvements between coal and LNG, simply doesn't make sense to commit to any kind of FF infrastructure as part of the transition away from it.
NEW: Another BIG city-building win for #Montreal, who just launched its first new public transit network since 1966 — peak hour trains every 3 minutes & 45 secs, 16.6 km of initial track with 5 stations. When complete, the REM will have 68 km, 26 stations.

@amber_a_bi People in NA wanna pretend illness doesnt exist or cant/shouldnt be prevented, its so weird.
I literally just had covid and am masking at work for a few weeks after returning and everyone like "wtf are you wearing a mask tho". Like sorry for not wanting to give covid to people?
@DaveThompsonVIC@myDVBA@ChamberVictoria Meeting our housing needs is one important step to allow businesses (esp small business) to be more stable. Land value tax likely also needs to be part of the equation to limit land value from climbing too high and reducing unproductive speculation.
@DaveThompsonVIC@myDVBA@ChamberVictoria Upward spiralling land value is one of the biggest challenges for businesses, not just people who need housing. Their leases are getting more expensive and employees require higher wages to afford rent, and people struggling to pay rent arent eating out as often.
