People aren't lying when they say they'd buy official versions.
Like, in Live A Live's case, we're talking about 350,000+ units. Millions of dollars! Every Japanese company refusing to open their eyes is missing out on millions of dollars. And here you all are, backing them up.
Consider this:
It took Square almost 30 years to translate Live A Live. A very good fan patch had been available since 2002. Many people played that version. And yet, when the HD2D version was released, Japan only accounted for ~30% of sales. You can check this yourself.
@EXZS99@AdzeTweets Actually even the animator Patrick McHaleb was so mad about streaming sites pulling out his show, that he said he hopped someone rip it and pirate it
@maxdmm1 No tiene sentido lo que dices, por que la lista es sobre pirateria general no sobre anime. Además si revisas los ratings de television en japon los dramas tienen mayor rating que el anime.
@ItomaRR@unmundig Because mangamura users wanted free stuff. A lot of pirates here don't find a way to buy it and get the pirate version because is the only way, once you give them an option they pay for it. This have been proven with crunchyroll and Netflix
@ItomaRR I totally get your point. What happened was that here it was the other way around. The industry grew up thanks to fansubs efforts. But now days things have changed a lot, there are more legal way to read Manga and watch anime, if we want more we have to actually pay for it
@inakachud Me too. Or at leat trying to buy some original merch or something. But some people don't get it. I loved old fansub idea when nobody worked on licensed media and erase their work if got licensed
