Start of year were behavior challenges. Led a brainstorm on what teacher, class they wanted to have and student they wanted to be known for plus steps to achieve all 3.
Banana teacher was on the list. Class overcame challenges so Banana teacher debuted!
Class pets not allowed so meet our class plants (named by class vote)- Coral, Charlie and Fluffy. Harley and Fire not pictured. Cared for by Class Gardeners.
Turning a worksheet into an academic game is not just fun for my kiddos but exciting for me too! Our 🦃 party includes team challenges of leaves with math problems underneath. Answers connected to letters, letters unscrambled to solve a riddle. They’re going to ❤️ it!
I didn’t feel like I mastered anything today. Science didn’t make it. But then I took a step back to acknowledge how compassionate my students were with one another. How kind. How encouraging. How hard working. We’re still about week behind in some areas but I call today a win 😊
Leading up to break, class writes sentences they’re thankful about peers. For them, they write what they like about self. It’s surprise until last day. I cut the strips & students make paper chains of what their peers wrote. Seeing their faces light up makes me 😊 every year!
We recite rules daily, #5 give my best effort for each task. Theres a student struggling w/ working on own. This week says “Okay, you always say give our best effort, so I did it. Here’s my best”…I looked it over, I could tell, it was HARD for her, So Proud! She did it 🥹
Inertia and Gravity this week. When I hit my bell, they would pull, at the same time, to see if their experiment was going to work. They were ECSTATIC when it did 🎉
Hats off to my former students who, after school, walked past the teacher lounge & ran to tell me “Hey better hurry, there’s pizza in the lounge for teachers!” Another said “and fancy cookies!!” Someone bought extra from a class bday. Those kids are always looking out for me 😊
Did you feel that quake that measured 4.1 near Pittsburg just after 5 a.m.? Check out our quake tracker and check back for the latest news.

I’m tired...all.the.time. My kiddos are doing their academic best, every single one of them, but their tender hearts & mental well-being are more valuable to me than anything. So day in day out I seek to bring calm & joy to class. for all our sake.

Hey, I am Shweta. I'm a IT engineering student. I was never consistent about my learning. This was the reason why i joined this cohort. This forced me to stay focused and somehow it worked.
