1) Even if you don't fully agree with the way that Erika is handling this tragedy and even if you think you would handle it differently, that doesn't mean you need to publicly bash and belittle and nitpick the wife of a man who everyone (on the Right) now claims to have loved and admired and respected. Do you honestly think that's what Charlie would want? For us to incessantly critique his wife every chance we get? Is that how you're honoring Charlie? With vague insinuations about his wife? The other option -- unless you have actual solid evidence that she's doing something evil or bad, which you don't -- is to shut the hell up and keep your nitpicks to yourself. That is also an option.

2) You want me to "make sense" of the "publicity tour"? Sure. That isn't hard to do. Erika Kirk was married to a very famous and important man who was the victim of the most high profile political assassination of the century. That man was also the leader of an extremely important political organization. You, sitting comfortably on the sidelines, might feel that it's "not necessary" for her to be in public. But she, as the person actually in this situation, feels deeply called and duty bound to carry on her husband's legacy and continue the work that he started. She also recognizes that there are many hostile forces at work RIGHT NOW trying to tear down his legacy and sabotage all that he's achieved, so kicking back at home and waiting for several months might not be an option. There might not be anything left by the time she reemerges. And so she's out there now, not because she wants to be but because she feels she must be. That's her judgment call. A rational person can see that it's at least a reasonable judgment call. I would say that it's not just reasonable but exactly correct. Which means that her behavior, if it's "weird," is only weird in the sense that heroism and strength always seem weird to people who possess neither virtue.
