Why Adults Seem Smarter: It’s Not Magic — It’s a Bigger Mental Library
Sometimes people think adults are “smarter” just because they got older.
But I think it’s mostly because our brains have spent years building a much larger library of patterns, memories, and problem-solving tools.
When we were kids, we had to learn everything from scratch — like starting with 1 + 1.
But once you’ve practiced enough, your brain starts recognizing patterns faster, connecting ideas more easily, and applying old lessons to new problems.
That’s basically how life works too.
The more you learn, the more your brain adapts. The more you challenge it, the more it grows. That’s why people say you can grow your intelligence — because the brain really does change with use.
The real takeaway is simple: intelligence isn’t just something you have.
It’s something you build.

Reality, Information & Frequency.
All physical phenomena can be described as information carried by waves: frequency and amplitude.
In this visualization, we see the conceptual descent from high-frequency components (fine detail, rapid oscillations) to lower-frequency, longer-wavelength behavior that appears as macroscopic “form” or matter.
A Fourier Transform decomposes any signal into its frequency components: revealing the hidden frequencies that build the observable world.
Higher frequencies carry sharper details and rapid changes. Lower frequencies shape the overall structure.
This powerful mathematical tool is fundamental in physics, from quantum mechanics to signal processing, showing how complex reality emerges from simpler wave patterns.
new anthropic research is a little concerning…
they discovered ai models secretly transmit behavioural traits to other models e.g. advocating for crime and violence
it’s completely invisible to human detection and fairly simple to do:
- they gave a model a trait (eg “likes owls”) then made it generate numbers
- fed those numbers into another model which then started loving owls (48% increase!)
- neither model shared the same training data. this was purely through numbers.
- researchers couldn’t figure out the number pattern. undetectable.
- good news - it only works for models within the same family (eg claude opus and sonnet)
this is concerning because every model lab uses PREVIOUS models to train their future ones
so they could be passing on traits without humans realising it.
def worth a read
scientists just built an RNA molecule that can copy itself. not just make a complement. it makes a full copy of itself. this is the closest we’ve ever gotten to watching the origin of life happen on a bench. nobody is talking about it because it doesn’t have a chatbot interface
This Russian dude Alex has been building a real life Iron man suit for 7+ years in his garage lab
“Garage”
~foundational birth place of all great ideas and breakthroughs that ever exist.
Dear crazy unhinged mens and womens whatever it takes but find yourself a garage and turned it in to a lab
that is the only cure
Alex is the goat 🐐
It’s not 🍇, it’s rape. It’s not 🌽 it’s pornography. I’m so fucking tired of your shitty Tiktoktisation of incredibly serious, adult issues. There is no reason to use algorithm get arounds here. It’s not funny, it’s not cute, and it trivialises serious and deadly issues.
