@MR_AECT I always narrow it down to the environment and its impact on my children. You know their propensities etc. The rest should be covered by your school policy.
@WhistleblowingT I didn't apply to any job and went straight into supply. I felt more confident as a result and landed the first job I applied for 6 months later. I had a change of heart and am now in SEND school. In total, I applied for two jobs and got both of them. Confidence is a big thing.
@hayo_luke This is what I have done and the success was huge, also try ECD technique, this way you know that the children are not just seen to read, but actually read.
@MR_AECT We use flashbacks and I normally create my own starters based on what my children need to consolidate. At my daughter's school, on Fridays, they go through the key concepts taught that week. It seems to work really well.
@MR_AECT We don't do as a school, but I created reading packs with short comprehension texts and we worked through them as a class; text marking, key words, vocabulary in one day and VIPERS next day. Texts were nearly always selected on the relevance to what we were learning about.
@MrTs_NQTs@etaknipsa@PaulGarvey4
I secured my dream job at a SEND school, February start.
What practical advice could you give me, reading materials, strategies... anything that could help me prepare. Thank you
@kazza_cupcake@zbsrt@MrTs_NQTs In my school, SLT asked me to stop giving verbal command, such as may I have your attention please, eyes on me etc and demanded raised hand thing.
I stood like an idiot for 2 minutes, during an observations. It was perfect as the mentor withdrew her demand immediately.
@zbsrt@MrTs_NQTs Call for story time, one two three, come and join me / sit with me/ under my tree.
My invention - Listening ears, looking eyes, we are ready for our learning surprise.
@AzadKatie@MrTs_NQTs I use Pie Corbett's Jump start grammar, it has a multitude of game based grammar activities. I still feel that this is bar far the best way of teaching grammar. What is your theme? May be a child can act a verb out, and the rest of the class can decipher the adverb.
