"160 years ago, on December 6, 1864, Kalimpong became an integral part of India under the Treaty of Sinchula.
Today, we celebrate its rich heritage and vibrant culture.
Happy Birthday, Kalimpong! 🎉 #Kalimpong#History#Pride"
Downstream of Oct 2023 Teesta-III dam disaster was managed very poorly. Resultantly, Kalimpong catchment of the basin is already into deep trouble while monsoon has just set its foot. Days ahead will be nightmares for the people in the region. @ndmaindia@nidmmhaindia
I am gradually finding the term 'sikkim flood' lil troublesome because down stream Darjeeling hills n bengal plain that are critical part of Tista basin are cleanly outside the imagination n narrative of mainstream media and researchers.
Sikkim definitely is the most impacted
