Sometimes, even with the 'perfect plan' things go amiss. 🤦🏽♀️😂 But God...........
”The Lord will perfect that which concerns you; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.“
Psalms 138:8 NKJV
Don't be too hard on yourself. Keep Going!
Have you ever met someone who impacted your life with just one statement? For me, that person is Jennifer Bitarabeho Kagugube. As a seasoned member of @FIDA_Uganda, she advised me to pursue a master's degree when I first joined the organization right after law school. And I followed her advice.
Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jennifer for the Foot Prints podcast. When I called her for directions, she went out of her way to pick us up, which was a small gesture but incredibly generous. Despite being a towering figure in the legal profession, Jennifer's humility shines through in her actions.
During the interview, Jennifer shared about her childhood with a glint in her eye. She fondly remembers playing dodgeball (owkepena) in primary school and tennis in secondary school. She went on to study law at University of Nairobi after attending @gayazahigh
As a young lawyer, Jennifer was slated to join a law firm but fate had other plans. Two days before her start date, all her future colleagues were arrested and imprisoned for three months. This was in the Obote II regime. Talk about baptism by fire!
Jennifer was introduced to FIDA by a lady called Sanyu Semafumu. At the time, FIDA was running a legal aid clinic but they didn’t have money to pay staff. They relied on female lawyers giving of their time, off their own jobs. Jennifer’s experience with FIDA opened her eyes to a side of community service she had not known.
Jennifer's experience with FIDA was invaluable. She remembers participating in a will writing project during the height of the AIDS pandemic when many people were dying. FIDA's program to help protect survivors of estates was vital during this difficult time.
Jennifer's story is one of persistence and dedication. From serving as FIDA chairperson to later becoming chairperson of the board of Trustees, her journey is truly inspiring.
Jennifer's advice on saving is something we can all benefit from. As she puts it, "saving saves you". Her tips? Start early, be consistent, and learn as much as you can.
To hear more of Jennifer's words of wisdom, be sure to tune in to the Foot Prints podcast airing in April 2024. Foot Prints is a podcast of the Mopane Leadership program of @CivsourceAfrica

Church is not an event you go to.🫣
Church is a family you belong to. 💃🏽

Life is a race.
Business is a race.
Ministry is a race.
It's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE without GOD.
Grant me the grace Lord to fight the good fight, to finish the race and to keep my faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
