Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.
In memory of David Lynch, we will continue to explore the otherworldly and the unknown. We will focus not on the loss, but on what we gained from the years we shared this planet with you. We will see you in our dreams.

Whelp. Maybe a good time to mention that I am about to open a new PhD position in Sweden that just happens to be exactly four years in length. Any aspiring PhD candidates in neurodegenerative imaging or multiomics who want to "take a break" from the US, please get in touch!
@Will_Bunch A few years back the Werner Twertzog account wrote this famous post. It still works, but now it’s closer to 1/2, and there are no more spectators.
Pretty far down the list of impending doom concerns but I think us basic research biologists need to prepare for draconian NIH slashes and a new reality of 1-2 person labs. Hope I’m wrong.
Reposting this because it’s really clear that all we have for the immediate future and maybe the rest of our lives is solidarity with other Americans who haven’t lost their minds to hate and greed.
Whatever happens today I feel very lucky to live in West Philly, blanketed by both Harris Walz and Ceasefire Now signs. At least my neighbors have their heads screwed on straight!
Again, don’t listen to silliness like this.

This isn’t about who had a better platform.
This was a doubling down on America’s original premise — white supremacy.
lock tf in. get your ass in mutual aid groups. lend your time to meal services. care for people in the way a vote simply never could. advocate for community gardens and libraries. stop betraying community. you don’t get a sticker or gold star. lock in.
I agree. But what’s also even more true is that most Americans aren’t using language like fascism or democracy. Trump ran on grievance and resentment and used. We simple and easy words to use that tapped into peoples’ fears.
America is more far right than people want to accept. It isn’t just at the presidential level. Many progressive agendas were also defeated at the lower levels.
American is a white-tocracy and many “POC” (I use “” because it’s becoming a bit nebulous) and we need to realize that much of this country is OK with that.
@maryvaughan71@hotdamhistorian Great question, and yeah I think it’s probably greed. But in some ways greed and fear (or the hate that arises from it) go hand in hand
