📣 Today is a turning point in what we know about brain health.
The results from the U.S. POINTER trial provide the rigorous data needed to say with confidence that healthy behaviors can meaningfully protect brain health across diverse populations in the U.S.
The findings, shared for the first time today at #AAIC25, tested lifestyle programs that simultaneously targeted risk factors. The programs focused on:
✅👟Aerobic exercise
✅🧠Cognitive engagement
✅🥗Nutrition
✅🫀Health Monitoring
U.S. POINTER is the largest research commitment the Association has made in its history. The landmark results are testament to our commitment to our mission. Thank you to the study participants, our community, our donors, and the staff who made these findings possible.

The Visible Human Project 2.0: Advancing Anatomical Visualization
The NLM Visible Human Project has created publicly available, anatomically detailed, 3D representations of both male and female bodies. This initiative continues to push the boundaries of medical imaging and education.
One notable dataset features a 72-year-old male donor, meticulously preserved and cryosectioned into 1,477 slices at 0.147mm intervals, with high-resolution imaging before and after freezing.

The Alzheimer's disease 2024 drug development pipeline
An often heard critique is that the Alzheimer field is too “amyloid-centric”. The Figure below actually shows a well-diversified drug pipeline, which is highly needed.
The mechanisms of action (CADRO) for agents currently being tested in phase 2 clinical trials (n=90) are:
1. Inflammation (23%)
2. Neurotransmitter receptors (19%)
3. Amyloid (12%)
4. Synaptic plasticity (12%)
5. Tau (7%)
6. Other [eg, Metabolism, Oxidative stress, Lipids] (27%)
