@samb999@TheFutureCaps I just don’t see a top 12 spot for Beau unless you are scratching Miro full time. Frank seems more likely an in/out of the lineup type and you also save .75 mil on the cap.
@TheFutureCaps@samb999 Caps have no center depth after trading McMichael and Lapierre and they’ll have Protas playing his rookie year. Someone with LW/C flexibility like Jenner fits like a glove. In addition to Lindgren, would expect them to look to trade Beauvillier.
@LukeCerpinTaxt Maybe Trouba? I’d be surprised if they aren’t looking for a more legit option. Liljegren has good potential but he’s no sure thing and still a bit of a question mark how effective Sandin will be post surgery at least for next year.
@AllenCaps1995@bluliner98 They have zero center depth and would be relying on Protas in his first full year and Sourdif in his second. Having someone that can play wing and move over to center if needed ala McMichael would be really valuable.
@LukeCerpinTaxt Yeah Hronek would fit like a glove and sounds like he also played a year of juniors under Carbery in OHL. Sadly doesn’t sound like he is looking to leave Vancouver.
@GrantPaulsen Really great interview. I listened to the others Cards did yesterday and you+@funnydanny asked the best questions by far. Calling it now that Trouba will be the D they sign. Should make for some interesting locker room dynamics 😂
@LukeCerpinTaxt Agreed. It is really challenging to figure out what they are looking to do with Sandin injury. Like are they looking for a higher end D and then potentially move Liljegren to #7 when Sandin is back or just a TVR type that can himself be moved down when Sandin is back?
@LukeCerpinTaxt Wonder if this is a sign they are looking to bring TVR back as a replacement (although hopefully they are looking at two additional D in that case).
@LukeCerpinTaxt There will be trades. I would imagine Cristall and Lakovic are prioritized. Parascak could work as a 4th liner since he seems to be a good PK/two way player. Agree on Miro. Hopefully we get a late 1st back. Just don’t think Caps are confident in his hockey IQ for top 9 role.
@domluszczyszyn@JFreshHockey I think @JFreshHockey is right in that their ultimate upside will be based on if Hutson gets close to his brother, Protas turns into a top center, etc. They already have a size component that could cause Carolina problems. It is just a matter of the high end and if it is there.
@domluszczyszyn@JFreshHockey They don’t have any bad contracts (Tuch maybe but that’s down the road), have a group of impactful prospects, and have all their draft picks in future years along with really good drafting record. Regardless if they win the cup this year or not, they’ll be fine.
@ianoland Not a huge overpay. McMichael is a 2nd liner in need of a contract and Kyrou is a top liner that has an excellent contract for the next 5 years.
@JosephSzymanski@LukeCerpinTaxt@TheCupitals Like Kesselring but largely agree with going for a more proven D. If the goal is to get two D this offseason, they’ve already traded/signed the more of an upside play with Liljegren. The other D should be more of a proven commodity that can take a top 4 role.
@JeffMarek Toronto probably going crazy with this hire but I always thought he was underrated. Was part of those NYI Trotz staff that legitimately could’ve made the finals a few times and then led a good/not great LAK roster to 105 points.
