Correct, while @JakeMerrick4Gov was the incumbent, he lost to newcomer Kristen Thompson. The campaigns styles were very different. She was a successful business woman, built multiple companies (inclusive of construction) while having created over 200 steady jobs. Was well know (in the district) that Merrick had history of legal encumbrances/issues, while he routinely spoke of being "a republican with biblical worldview", no plan otherwise. Kristen (also a christian) had a plan for job creation, growth and development, lower taxes, better schools etc etc (basically the same).
To many in Jakes/Kristens district knew the financial history of Jakes businesses.
