India will never forgive Jawaharlal Nehru for his Betrayal!
Liberals may believe that Jawaharlal Nehru was one of India's best Prime Ministers, lauding his contributions to a newly independent India. But the fact is that he betrayed India through two major deliberate blunders in collusion with the Deep State that have had long-term consequences, affecting the nation to this day.
1. Kashmir and Article 370!
In 1947, when India gained independence and was partitioned with Pakistan, Nehru's decision to grant special status to Jammu and Kashmir through Article 370 marked a pivotal point in Indian history. This unique provision allowed Kashmir significant autonomy, enabling it to implement its own laws separately from those of the Indian Constitution. This autonomy, however, was not coupled with an expiration date or clear conditions for integration, allowing secessionist sentiments and conflicts to simmer within Kashmir.
The ambiguity surrounding Kashmir's status provided Pakistan with an opportunity to assert its claims over the region, leading to military conflicts and a protracted struggle for control. This decision laid the groundwork for years of diplomatic and military tensions between India and Pakistan and contributed to ongoing issues of insurgency and instability in the region. Was this decision a calculated political strategy or an oversight that compromised India's sovereignty over Kashmir?
2. The UN Security Council Seat!
Another critical point of contention involves Nehru's handling of India's potential position on the United Nations Security Council. During the 1950s, India reportedly had the opportunity to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Instead, Nehru is said to have declined the offer, effectively allowing China to strengthen its position on the global stage.
Had India become a permanent member, it would have held veto power to shape international policies aligned with its interests and could have leveraged this position to counter actions detrimental to India's interests. Nehru's decision, however, forfeited this crucial opportunity, leaving India with limited influence over key international decisions for decades.
Conclusion - The biggest betrayal!
By committing these two historic blunders, Nehru did a great disservice to the nation.
Granting special status to Kashmir through Article 370 and foregoing a permanent seat on the UN Security Council were decisions that have contributed to geopolitical challenges India continues to navigate even today. As India faces ongoing regional conflicts and seeks to assert itself on the global stage, Nehru's decisions serve as a reminder of the far-reaching impact that strategic choices in governance can have.
Granting special status to Kashmir through Article 370 made Kashmir a gateway for importing terrorism into India. Forgoing a permanent seat on the UN Security Council was a huge blow because, by now, India could have been a global power with veto rights on major international issues, and no one would have messed with us.
Now connect the essence of this article with the ongoing unrest in Delhi.
Luckily, today we have a Prime Minister, PM Modi, who is trying his best to reverse the damage done by Nehru! @PMOIndia@narendramodi
Over the past many years, I have taken a personal stand in support of the NEET examination, arguing that it brought uniformity in student selection across the country and gave students from underprivileged backgrounds a real shot at pursuing their dream of medical education. In the last 5 years, the NEET UG question paper has leaked thrice. Imagine the amount of pressure that it puts on students, who had to go through the examination process yet another time when the system that was supposed to bring in uniformity was failing. Yet there was no accountability, and I believe strongly that it was that moment that brought in a shift in the minds of the students to take to the streets to cry their hearts out.
Protest is a fundamental right in a Democracy. The pertinent question, however, is this: why did the BJP-led Central Government take so long to initiate a dialogue with the protestors? Why was meaningful engagement delayed until the protest had escalated to a flashpoint? What kept you waiting?
The students and the people who are leading them also have a responsibility here. It is natural that when a protest stays on for weeks, people with vested interests will take the stage to air views that are either completely irrelevant to the initial demands of the protests or would try to completely hijack it to serve their agenda. If you remain silent and let these people with vested interests further their agenda, then you are deviating from your core objectives. Please do not let it happen!
I urge the BJP-led Central Government to engage in meaningful dialogue, uphold transparency, and take swift, appropriate action to address the concerns at hand. The strength of any nation lies in the confidence its youth place in its institutions. If our students lose faith in the fairness and credibility of our education system, we are jeopardising the future of our nation.
