@The7deadlyangel perception of the world SO much when irl, no one would ever think of saying this to u. Because it’s crazy! no irl trans ppl would walk up to a nb person & insist they’re a cis woman, but it’s easy to do behind a screen. u dont owe anyone medical transition at 17 lmao. or ever!
@82636282636k@Aprilfzws@Jxwhannes In the arctic, produce is insanely expensive/inaccessible. Plus, hunters traditionally use all of the animal. While yes it can technically be avoided, it’s not feasible rn for communities who have thrived off hunting for centuries to now rely on expensive foreign produce imports
@wrcassnessa like a case abt how pacific islander data is severely innaccurate bc it is lumped in with asian american cases could be super interesting but thats another topic entirely lolll
@wrcassnessa haha lol wait i just saw this after i pqrted this is what i said lol. obviously theres a lot more to do w those storylines and id love if they showed more how Black patients are treated like w the sickle cell patient in S1 and other more unique forms of discrimination effects
@doehuntiing What if dearden just headcannons her all the way at the end of that spectrum? Those sort of people exist and have fulfilling lives. Not saying any headcanon is “right” or “wrong”, but, dearden isn’t doing anything wrong by head-cannoning her that way
@CreativeGoob@kingdonisms Her ~level 2 autistic sister has a boyfriend. Plus, Dearden literally talked about platonic love being hugely undervalued!
How is it pushing a stereotype that aroace people will never be loved by… having them be aroace?
being asexual is not inherently a stereotype. It is genuinely slightly more common amongst autistic populations! And all this coming from someone who doesnt hc her as aroace, if the show genuinely went that route it’d be totally fine provided they did it well
Idk as an asexual autistic person I definitely feel like it is the kind of representation I need, because Dearden specifically referenced how asexual people often feel isolated and like they’re missing a fundamental part of the human experience, which is heightened by autism…
much love to tdeardz but like…. as an autistic woman on the ace spectrum… portraying mel as ace on the show and showing her as never being romantically loved by anyone ever isn’t the representation autistic people need. in fact it’s quite the opposite
“isn’t the representation autistic people need” she’s still autistic! She is still autistic representation even if there’s one aspect of her life you don’t personally relate to. Asexual autistic people exist, and her having well thought out reasoning behind her autistic character
