Yes… because it’s a right wing purity spiral. The phenomenon isn’t unique to leftism. It tends to happen to any group that is ascendant in its power. We just associate it with the left because they have been ascendant for so long.

Debating them is only useful to attract more people to your cause, but if those people are left wingers then they also generally won’t be swayed.
