Thank God I got some experience with them (even if it took 5 years to recover, with regular therapy not helping as therapist won’t touch it.

Realistic emotional regulation starts w/ developing the capacity to observe what's happening, even while we're in it. And yes, that's annoying as f*ck. When I'm emoting, I don't WANT to "observe" anything-- I want to emote. But just start experimenting w/ it. You're the observer.
