@BrianMcDonaldIE Outdoor toilets (which Russia does have a high % of) have not much to do with diarrheal mortality. In the west that's due to old age hospital infections, in Russia, you generally don't make it to 75+/so theres less elderly care where you are weak enough to die from it..

@EndjinnFeersum @LoftusSteve Bit that's a different beast to net zero. Electrification requires power, even if it's sig less from efficiency savings. Great to do it but it's just 1 step to net zero which is much further. Its really dimishing returns trying to offset carbon & capture it etc & super costly.

@BrianMcDonaldIE Russia has in Putin era built strategic energy dependence. Way too many times over decades has their been "maintenance"/"corporate disputes" at sensitive political moments. It's all a power game & relying on them for genuine reliable energy with any western tendencies is a risky.

@cineguz @BrianMcDonaldIE I'm aware of that. This discussion is about the EU & Russia. Why would anyone compare Finland to Russia? The majority of the EU/Europe are collectively contributing to the ukrainain effect etc & know of the potential consequences.

@cineguz @BrianMcDonaldIE Obviously Europe has far more, so not quite sure your point. Most Russian airlines would have without state support. The trend isn't good for Russia until Airbus/boeing start up sell them planes again.

@BrianMcDonaldIE Air Baltic isn't a major EU airline either. Granted "a ton" is vague but with all the new state subsidies/loans for airlines in Russia it's difficult to know how many of them would have gone bankrupt.

@BrianMcDonaldIE A large % of that money given to Russia is then spend on missiles, drones etc to fire on Ukraine. Yeh, many EU citizens just don't have capacity/time to care about consequences & want cheap energy. But in the long run, being independent of Russia is a good thing (trust has gone).

@paolo_mazzaro @ZelenskyyUa To not be part of Russia & treated like 3rd class citizens like they have been in east Ukraine/Crimea (forced deportations, banned culture/language, history erasure etc). The Kremlin say Ukraine/Ukrainians shouldn't exist. Where ever you live can you honestly say you'd want that?

Putin is vague as he has no idea either. Nato can't encroach from the west beyond Ukraine as that's literally Russia? Countries certainly want protection now.

To what end? Their survival as a free country & to make Russia think twice re further attacks . How are you defining "won"?

We have a ton of military startups directed linked to the war, there are plenty of UK economic benefits nevermind the dangers of Russia moving on to their next target. Drones have changed everything.
