BREAKING: New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill just signed the “Reproductive Health and Gender-Affirming Care Protections Act” (S2260) into law.

The law shields abortion vendors from out-of-state investigations, legal proceedings, and demands for records. It also creates a new crime of “interference with reproductive health care services.”

The vague language could be used against peaceful sidewalk counselors who pray, hold signs, and offer mothers alternatives outside abortion facilities.

States should protect mothers and babies, not build legal fortresses around abortion.

This is repugnant and heartbreaking. These women are celebrating the signing of the new statue in Massachusetts that allows abortion up to the moment of birth and treating it as a victory for women. It is anything but.  It authorizes the taking of a human life.  Even the people cheering this law would admit that the baby, if born, would be a person who cannot be murdered just because the mother wants to.  There is no medical, legal, or, most importantly, moral basis to treat an unborn baby at that point any differently.  Horrifying. Thomas Jefferson observed in the context of slavery that "Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever."  I pray that God's vengeance will not exact too high a price for this modern-day abomination.
