Bienvenidas y bienvenidos.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) introduced a bill to block the construction of new data centers until lawmakers enact regulations on AI.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) is planning to introduce a similar House bill in the coming weeks. https://t.co/gfQhYKxbdR
We cannot return to a world where might makes right.
The attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel are unraveling international law and pushing the world toward greater instability and chaos.

BREAKING: The FCC today officially granted @Tesla a waiver allowing it to use Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio technology for its wireless EV charging system that will be used to wirelessly charge the Cybercab.
Normally, this kind of radio must be handheld and can’t be installed outdoors on fixed equipment. Tesla’s charging pad is fixed and could be outdoors, so they needed an exception.
The FCC said yes because:
• The signal is very low power
• It only turns on briefly while parking
• It works at very short range
• It won’t interfere with other systems
More information from the filing: "The Tesla positioning system is an impulse UWB radio system that enables peer-to-peer communications between a UWB transceiver installed on an electric vehicle (EV) and a second UWB transceiver installed on a ground-level pad — which could be located outdoors — to achieve optimal positioning for the EV to charge wirelessly.
Prior to the UWB operation, the vehicular system uses Bluetooth technology for the vehicle to discover the location of the ground pad and engage in data exchange activities (which is not subject to the waiver).
When the vehicle approaches the ground pad, the UWB transceivers will operate to track the position of the vehicle to determine when the optimal position has been achieved over the pad before enabling wireless power charging."
In its waiver request, Tesla states that the UWB signals occur only briefly when the vehicle approaches the ground pad; and mostly at ground level between the vehicle and the pad, and that the UWB signals are then significantly attenuated by the body of the vehicle positioned over the pad.
Confirmed: Oxygen can be produced without photosynthesis
For centuries, it was believed that oxygen on Earth was produced exclusively by living organisms through photosynthesis, a process dependent on sunlight. New research shows this is not the only pathway.
At depths of around 4,000 metres (13,000 feet) in the Pacific Ocean, far beyond the reach of sunlight - researchers observed oxygen being produced in complete darkness.
The discovery was made by a team led by the Scottish Association for Marine Science while studying the Clarion–Clipperton Zone, a vast abyssal plain between Hawaii and Mexico. Sensors placed on the seafloor recorded rising oxygen concentrations, contradicting expectations based on known biological processes.
Further investigation identified the source as polymetallic nodules, rock concretions rich in manganese, nickel, cobalt, and other metals. The researchers found that these nodules can generate electrical potentials when clustered together on the seabed.
Under certain conditions, this electrical charge appears sufficient to drive seawater electrolysis, a chemical reaction that splits water molecules (H₂O) into hydrogen and oxygen, without the involvement of light or living organisms.
The findings have important implications.
They suggest that oxygen production can occur through geological and electrochemical processes, which may influence how scientists think about the early evolution of oxygen-using life on Earth. They also raise concerns about deep-sea mining on ecosystems we don’t understand

🚨: Finland successfully transmits electric power through the air without using physical wires.
Scientists successfully transmitted electricity through air using ultrasonic sound waves and laser beams.
Finland is positioning itself at the forefront of a wireless energy revolution, with researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of Oulu pioneering methods to move electricity without physical cables.
One of the most striking developments involves using high-intensity ultrasonic sound waves to create invisible pathways through the air, effectively guiding electrical sparks along a controlled route.
While currently in the experimental phase, this 'acoustic wire' technology could eventually enable contactless electrical connections and smart interfaces that function entirely without plugs or traditional wiring.
Beyond sound-guided energy, Finnish innovation is also leveraging light and radio frequencies to solve complex power challenges. The private sector is developing 'power-by-light' systems that utilize high-powered lasers to transmit electricity to remote receivers, providing critical galvanic isolation for hazardous environments like nuclear plants and high-voltage stations. Simultaneously, advancements in radio-frequency harvesting are turning ambient waves into 'Wi-Fi for power,' potentially eliminating the need for millions of disposable batteries in low-power IoT sensors. Together, these technologies signal a shift toward a more flexible, cable-free infrastructure for global industry.

🚨 Earth is just 1 of 3.2 trillion planets in our galaxy. The sun is just 1 of 200 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy. The Milky Way is 1 of 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe!
I will be pushing for a moratorium on the construction of data centers that are powering the unregulated sprint to develop & deploy AI.
The moratorium will give democracy a chance to catch up, and ensure that the benefits of technology work for all of us, not just the 1%.

In America today, working class people live, on average, 7 years shorter lives than the wealthy. Stress kills.
In Altoona, Wisconsin this weekend I asked people how economic stress impacted their lives.
The responses I got were painful, but not surprising.
Shock and indignation at the discovery of the six hostages killed by Hamas in Gaza. My thoughts are with their loved ones.
There must be an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages, including our compatriots Ohad Yahalomi and Ofer Kalderon.
The war must stop.
