OPINION: AI companies should *not* be allowed to simply ban or delete user accounts. AI is much too important now, and removing the access can easily mean losing your entire livelihood. It is quickly becoming basic digital infrastructure, closer to electricity or internet access than just another app.
Peter is absolutely right here. Outside our AI bubble, I hardly know anyone who really knows what Fable 5 is or what a massive leap these new models represent.
They only know AI Overviews in Google or ChatGPT on the free tier. They do not know what agents are or what is possible beyond basic ChatGPTs.
We are the avant-garde, and I do not mean that arrogantly at all. 99 percent of people have no idea what is happening right now or how profound the change will be.
The Open Source adoption shows we have entered the era of abundance in AI. Initially, we thought NVIDIA was the only player. OpenAI was the only monopoly. They will kill every industry, every applications, every other companies. The Open Source movement reflects a much bigger theme: the world is big enough for many things to co-exist: chips, models, applications, industries. We are seeing competition in every layer and that's great. Everyone can choose what they buy and there are always new opportunities for new companies to shine.
Anthropic killed all the Fable 5 hype by nerfing the model.
It's not the same
It doesn't feel the same
It's consuming far more tokens
Fable 5 still is acting very dumb.
This is not the Fable 5 that I used heavily for 3 days last month.
I just paid $321 for a coding session where Fable 5 refused to do the work.
Here is where the work actually went:
Fable 5: $78
Opus 4.8: $242
75% of the session got routed to Opus because the new classifiers kept flagging routine coding work as cybersecurity risk.
The model I chose did a quarter of the job.
The fallback did the rest.
Anthropic said a small fraction of tasks would fall back.
My receipts say otherwise.
I'm genuinely confused who Fable 5 is for.
it's $10 / $50 per million tokens. exactly 2x Opus 4.8.
but routine coding and debugging now often gets flagged by the new safety filter and rerouted to... Opus 4.8.
so you pay double, wait for a classifier to inspect your request, and get handed the cheaper model's answer anyway.
What is the point of this model?
President Donald Trump made more than 21,000 securities trades in his first year back in office, often in intense bursts tied to market events he created https://t.co/90jqNCHo6D
Palantir CEO Alex Karp says enterprises are fed up with AI labs that "oversold" models and pushed tokenmaxxing.
Customers want to own the full AI stack with Palantir + NVIDIA at the center.
Absolute cinema. Worth watching until Fable isnt back.
As a European, I don't understand how the sitting U.S. president—who has to pay $5 million to a woman he r@ped and defamed—can remain in office after everything he's done.
China will crash the US stock market this year.
They're dumping SOTA open-source models on the US, nearly as good as the frontier labs, basically free.
Nobody can refuse cutting a $100M AI bill down to $5M.
Once that deal is on the table for everyone, Anthropic and OpenAI can't justify their prices, or their valuations.
The bubble isn't AI. It's the price of AI. And it's about to pop.
Anthropic hates Opensource AI because a model like GLM 5.2 being available for feee to download made their $1 Trillion valuation sound like a joke (which it is btw)
