At the 15th @UN Group of Friends of Mediation consultation chaired by Turkey and Finland, I reaffirmed Kenya 🇰🇪 commitment to the dictates of Article 33 of the UN Charter which calls on parties to conflict to recourse to mediation or negotiation as the first response to the resolution of the conflict. 80 years after the UN Charter, Kenya proposes a new Convention on Mediation—anchored on flexibility, voluntariness & local ownership—to codify mediation in law, incentivize early prevention, and give legal weight to negotiated agreements. In this, we are working closely with our partners, the Institute for Integrated Transitions @IFITtransitions. @ForeignOfficeKE
