I'm here for data, policy and politics, vets (for work), Dutch things (especially cycle paths), quality of life, women & girls. Opinions my own, obviously.
@SW_Help Bit late now ๐คฃ I've been waiting for a train which is just threatening to turn up! There was no info at Waterloo so I paid for Tube and train to get to Reading ๐ญ
@soniasodha I finished my PhD aged 40 - didn't enjoy it, but loved the MSc in social statistics which preceded it. And I love being able to follow the numbers. I hope you're having fun!
.@TalkTalk I need help for my elderly neighbour. OpenReach dug up the street and cut off her phone and internet. She only has a 'brick' mobile and needs to talk to a real person to report the fault and get an engineer to come out. Can you help? This is an access issue.
@BBCr4today re: hares and hunting... You can also hunt muntjac deer at any time - no closed season. In that case, though, they're invasive and have no set breeding season
The sweet spot of policy for commanding massive public support in Britain contains three elements
1. A ban
2. Would support pensioners
3. Would protect animals/wildlife
Ban on fireworks so as not to distress elderly pets would probably do it.
Another one to add to the British public love a ban list, by a 3-1 margin people back banning the sale of slushies to children. Parents of young children are the most supportive.
Those interested in teen mental health (and who decide on new girl guide badges). Perhaps looking inwards is a mistake. "Unexpectedly, we found that YAM (Youth Aware of Mental Health) led to increased emotional difficulties at the long term follow up." https://t.co/SHrqRaQ0gg
@RoyalMail when you send those "you weren't at home" emails, is there a reason you don't include an "oh yes we were" button? Just received one while I was sitting next to my front door. I have rebooked, but it's the fib that annoys. "We didn't have enough staff" would be honest
Fenix, in Rotterdam, is the first museum in the world to explore migration through art. That may sound like an odd approach, but the institution manages to be accessible without being dogmatic https://t.co/MwuAIDdz4T
