Aging slacker. Social assassin. Reformed goth kid. Music nerd. Business owner. Collector. Enthusiast. Boston born, Tampa Bay-ked. Still wicked, just warmer.
@PardFerguson@realEstateTrent I don’t know him personally or professionally, but from his tweets and the echoes through retwit, I would not have come to the same conclusion about his ego as you did. Sometimes it’s just not about money. Especially if you’re young-ish and already are stable and successful.
@moseskagan It’s transferable consent, data brokers, and VOIP networks that are the cause. The mobile carriers hate it because the reasons you mentioned and also because they become the lightning rod for the customer complaints.

Like I said, we have no disagreements about the content quality of Panini baseball. They do a great job. Even on Prospect Edition and Boys of Summer. USA Prizm was a big hit this year.
I do stand by my statement that the products would be very watered down or much more money if they had the licenses. Accountants, rights fees, and all.
I also stand by my position that they’ve been fleecing their NBA and NFL buyers for six years now with auto checklists worse than most Leaf products and dead retail products. Almost everyone is better off buying a case of retail blasters or megas than the equivalent spend of hobby boxes of the same sport. Except Prizm. Just leave it on the shelf.
The people working on the products care more than the accountants do, that’s for sure. And I also believe that to be true for Topps.
@MishaWines97 If Panini had the MLB license, they wouldn’t give a shit about the product just like they did NFL and NBA with their extremely watered down auto checklists and lack of content in most retail products. (Donruss, Optic, Absolute being the exceptions in FB)
I stand somewhat corrected, they did have PA license and not MLB license. You’re right. But they also had to try because they didn’t have the logos. I’m not disagreeing that Donruss/Select/Prizm/NT baseball give bang for the buck, but if they were lazy like they are for other sports, it wouldn’t sell. Prizm NFL sold below cost ever year when Topps had the NFL license.
@MishaWines97 That wasn’t Panini. It was Playoff/Donruss. Different company. Panini didn’t exist as a card company until 2009 when they got the NBA license. All they did was just buy the IP.
@JeffPassan Some of the people in the comments bemoaning the MLBPA probably cheer when their employers lay people off and give them more work without more pay.
@rossjensen@ProspectsLive Lots of shortstops out there. The Dansby Swanson’s of the world will do just fine. Can often be had reasonably as everyone falls in love with the next great SS prospects.
@realEstateTrent Either descendants of immigrant families, descendants of grand-great grandparents that lived through the depression and passed this on, or they grew up with food insecurity.
I’m all three. We had to eat what we didn’t finish cold the next morning.
@ianmSC His greater point is people are unwilling to sacrifice, and would rather complain. He’s not wrong if the person invests the money. That’s how a lot of people saved for a down payment in the 70’s through 90’s. $100 a week in the S&P since 6/1/2020 is worth about $50k now.
I pointed out once how easy it is to fill a cup with ice and cold brew while they watch the blender. If the blender sits for thirty more seconds while they do a simple order order, the sloppachino customer wait time is nowhere near as adversely affected as the simple coffee drink.
I found a local coffee shop. Became a regular. Now I don’t even order when I walk in, they just ask if I want anything else. Highly recommend
