It really pains me to hear "you're working too hard you make other looks bad" "you're trying too hard" when in academia these are not a problem... It's a hard curve to learn. I've learned to just focus on my personal life and cruise by at work. Cause my minimum is still too good

I heard a lot about transferable skills from PhD to industry and I wished someone told me the non-transferable skills. Being innovative, the best, pushing the level will get you punished. Mediocrity is better than being great at your job. So take the money and find hobbies

@Julie_kOuest Really!!! It infuriating when my work is great, clients are happy and deadline are met. That my lack of a smile when around coworkers during in house meeting is what matters

I'm tired of being a woman in tech. It's exhausting. If I speak up I'm bossy, emotional and I make men uncomfortable. If I stay quiet and keep my head down, I freak everyone out cause I'm too quiet. Is there a way to win or at least be left alone? #womenintech #phdlife

So we don't have a dress code at my tech firm, doesn't stop the HR dude to comment on me wearing shorts in the office during a heatwave #womenintech #DoubleStandards

We say we don't have a dress code in tech and we pretend to have an inclusive culture but in fact we do and this dress code and culture disproportionately affects women.
