As Black History Month comes to an end for 2024, Trae from our ROUTES youth hub in Dudley reflected on the importance of looking back whilst also moving forward.

It is heartbreaking to hear that drug-related deaths have continued to rise, with 5,448 lives tragically lost. Below is Cranstoun's response to this devastating news
🧵We’re devastated to see yet another increase in drug deaths for the year of 2023 in England + Wales, with 5,448 people tragically dying. This is the 12th year they have risen in succession. Our deepest thoughts are with those who have lost a loved one

I welcome this commitment to developing a national youth strategy, ensuring that young people have greater access to safe spaces and support from trusted adults.
We’re delighted that the Secretary of State has committed to delivering a National Youth Strategy.
On 17 October, Lisa Nandy highlighted the troubling lack of national youth strategy and declared that the new government is ‘determined to grip this issue’. She also praised youth workers and described the youth funding decrease of 73 percent as ‘a source of national shame’.

So proud of those who co-created this poem about consent. They volunteered their time as part of @DudleyCVS Health Champions and had the opportunity to work alongside @dancrewanimate to bring it to life. Take 5 mins to hear these powerful words. 👇

@antlehane Totally agree Ant, and as we know drug testing is not reflective of immediate use. We must educate and support young people rather than push them away from what should be trusted adults and safe spaces which then increases their vulnerability.
Great #100Voices campaign from @ChildrensComm on how we could improve the lives of young people (by listening and co-producing with young people).
