Someone on the https://t.co/ll8wOfPlnI Discord asked about technologies to learn in 2026. Thought I'd share my must-know list here too!
- @bunjavascript - Bun is one of the biggest leaps in our ecosystem. Life changing.
- @vite_js and Vite+. Simply the best ecosystem built by an incredible team.
- @tan_stack TanStack Start has only been out for a short time, yet it's by far the most ergonomic full-stack React framework today.
- @turborepo because nobody has ever regretted starting a project in a monorepo.
- @shadcn is simply the best, most customizable UI library there is. Bonus: Shadcn Create is a delight.
- @vercel AI Elements will save you literally days if you build an AI-native application.
- Vercel @aisdk is a must if you implement any sort of AI in your apps.
- @mastra has been my go-to agentic framework for the past 2 years. Best DX ever, and doesn't feel like a Python port.
- @convex is a great backend-as-a-service platform, I use it a lot. Ease of running locally during development is a huge bonus point.
- @CopilotKit for integrating AI agents into any frontend app in minutes.
This question made me reflect and realize what an amazing ecosystem we have today, versus just a couple of years ago 🤯 Any Gulp, Bower, Grunt veterans?
If you want to follow my journey building @startdotdev alongside @traversymedia and @dennisivy11, you know what to do!
The way we learn to code is changing, and it’s time our courses caught up. We need a model that replaces long, passive lectures with interactive, high-retention experiences that respect your time.
That’s why @dennisivy11, @arielweinberger, and I have been working behind the scenes. We are building a platform that turns learning to code into a fun, competitive experience.
Our goal is to build the best interactive learning experience ever made.
Here's what this means:
- Courses authored by real human instructors with a proven track record.
- Each learning journey is focused on helping you learn, without limiting your creativity. We'll share more about that very soon.
- What you're building is real software. Our platform does not expect a single, correct answer. You learn the concept and build something of your own along the way. Actual portfolio projects.
- https://t.co/zn5vKP6O0Z makes it possible to teach concepts that were simply not possible on any other interactive platform before. You'll be able to learn how to build your own backends (think Node.js, Hono, Express, Python), frontends (React, Vue, Angular), and full-stack apps (Next.js, Nuxt, Remix) and our platform is able to accommodate all of that.
- There's always a reason to keep momentum going - we've integrated fun gamification aspects into the platform. You gain experience, level up, earn badges, earn real certificates, and build a public profile you can put on your GitHub and share with the world.
- Each course features an AI assistant that is fine-tuned by our instructors. Not a generic LLM. You can ask for help if you need it, ask for a hint, have a concept explained to you in the instructor's unique style. The AI assistant can see everything on your screen. The app you're building, your open code editor, the challenge, any errors logs, etcetera. It's there when you need it, but it's not forced on you.
We're super excited, and we hope you are too. We want to make you a part of this journey. We're going to constantly share videos, screenshots, and brainstorm with the community.
P.S. Early registration is open. Head over to https://t.co/emOL3TuyEI to join our Discord channel🚀

New way to Learn to Code:
1. Learn the basics of any programming language. Spend not more than 5-6 days.
2. Pick a small project you actually care about. For example, a product that organize your notes and use AI to build the first version in 10 minutes.
3. Reverse-engineer everything. Don’t just “accept” the code. If you can’t understand a particular line of code, ask AI: “what does this do?”
4. If you can’t explain exactly what every line does, you aren’t learning, you are just copy pasting your way into technical debt.
5. Use the AI as a 1-on-1 tutor to explain the why behind the patterns it suggests.
Since a couple of people suggested using a VPS instead of Vercel (after the Vercel security incident): Don't.
There are many good reasons for using a VPS. I published a new "VPS Essentials" course this week. But security is not a strong reason for switching.
Cost effectiveness / low cost (and predictability) and flexibility are better reasons. It's obviously a trade off. More details in the video.
