I’m forever grateful that none of my brothers will ever come out and say, “Women of this generation are foolish,” or “I can never listen to a woman’s advice,” or any of those things.

Do you know why?

Because as their sister, I’ve been able to set a good example for them. Our mum has done the same.

And my dad has never once looked at me while I was speaking and told me to shut up simply because I’m a woman. In fact, he asks for my opinion.

And I think this is something some men lack. They haven’t had a woman in their lives whom they genuinely respect, so they grow up dismissing whatever a woman says. That’s how you hear things like, “If a woman agrees with you, then you must be doing nonsense.”

I’ll raise my sons to respect women, the same way my father raised my brothers.
