Today marks the 109th anniversary of the loss of E18. In the early hours of 2nd of June 1916 E18 hit a mine from a Mine Barrier off the Island of Dagerort. On the discovery of E18 it was found that the conning tower hatch was open so she was on the surface when she hit the mine.
109 years ago E18 spent the past 2 days patroling the area around Libau and Memel.Known to the British as Billet Number 2. My Great Grandfather W G Powell had been in the Baltic since Oct 1914 serving with Horton on E9. https://t.co/w1XDGDntke
109 years ago 29th May no reports. Pictured below is E9 in the Baltic with W G Powell at the helm before being transferred onto E18. https://t.co/w1XDGDntke
109 years ago E18 had a good day today, at 4:42 PM, E18 torpedoed the German destroyer V100, blowing off her bow. Had it not been for the calm seas, it is likely she would have sunk from the damage; as it was, she was towed back to port. https://t.co/w1XDGDntke
109 years ago E18 left the port of Reval (Tallinn) on her last mission. The diary of Francis Goodhart, commander of E8, states that E1 and the Russian Bars departed at 1400 hrs, E8, E18 and the Russian Gerpard left port together at 1800 hrs on 25 May. https://t.co/w1XDGDntke

Great new show coming up in September. Loads of different reenactments, vehicles, traders, authors and wargaming. We will be there and have a large stock of Napoleonic books. #battles#history#books https://t.co/IGo3miaKG2
