Mukesh Ambani in a televised interview with CNN-News18 on August 31, 2014, shortly after Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister said "We are very fortunate that we have Narendra bhai as our Prime Minister. He has the vision to change this country, and more importantly, the ability to execute that vision."
Mukesh Ambani was ushered in New India in 2014 itself that's nothing new. Some are waking up from slumber to realise they are in India.
Corruption at the municipal and local administrative level is the monster that is devouring India’s children and ordinary citizens. The fire in Delhi and now in Lucknow are proof that the nation’s biggest enemy is this almost endemic corruption.
He exposes propaganda that SP Mookherjee like a He-man single handedly rescued West Bengal. Says, SPM/Hindu Mahasabha never participated in the freedom struggle and majority of Bengal legislators who voted for Bengal to remain in India were Congressmen!
@NHAI_Official Ghaziabad to Delhi and Delhi to Ghaziabad Delhi Meerut Expressway is blatantly used by motor cyclists. Neither @dtptraffic nor @Gzbtrafficpol are bothered about this. @NHAI_Official should take up the matter with concerned departments to make the expressway safe.

Sharp Edge: How can so called secular, liberal politicians suddenly forget every terrible thing they have said about the BJP & its ideology & suddenly change sides & defect?
It’s happening in Bengal now. But it has happened all over India for years. It’s not just Hemanta Biswa Sharma who went from being a’secular’ Congress leader to becoming the BJP’s Muslim baiter. The BJP is full of former Congressmen who have abandoned their principles & been lured away by the promise of power & riches.
Ultimately it is the conscience-less greed & hypocrisy of bogus ‘Secular’ politicians, who abandon ideology as soon as they get a better offer, that keeps the BJP flourishing

IMPORTANT: In this season of political splits and mergers, the Supreme Court’s questionable role has largely escaped scrutiny.
1) The SC is yet to deliver a final ruling on the Shiv Sena (UBT) appeal filed in January 2024 challenging the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s decision on the party split. That’s 30 months, four CJIs and counting.
2) The SC is also yet to rule on a petition filed by Goa Congress leader Girish Chodankar in March 2022 challenging a Bombay High Court order related to defections. More than four years have passed.
When the history of this period is written, the Supreme Court’s performance as a constitutional guardian must come under serious examination.🙏
BJP should fear this crowd 🔥
As Mamata Banerjee hits the streets of Kolkata, thousands of hawkers & workers march behind her, yet another display of Bengal's "Pied Piper" phenomenon.
No rehabilitation, no eviction ✊
Shiv Sena has been shaped as much by rebellions as by elections.
• Bandu Shingre challenged Bal Thackeray
• Chhagan Bhujbal led the first major split
• Narayan Rane walked out after a succession battle
• Raj Thackeray launched the MNS
• Eknath Shinde split the party and took its symbol
Every major revolt left a lasting impact on the party and Maharashtra politics.
Now, with a fresh rebellion brewing in Shiv Sena (UBT), it will be interesting to see how this chapter pans out.
In my column for @ndtv I argue that the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections haven’t just rewritten the state's political calculus—they’ve triggered a seismic shift that is currently rattling New Delhi. With the TMC deeply diminished and Suvendu Adhikari at the helm as Chief Minister, twenty rebel Lok Sabha MPs have engineered a textbook survival maneuver. By merging with the obscure Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), this faction—led by veterans like Sudip Bandyopadhyay and flanked by marquee names like Yusuf Pathan and Dev—cleverly clears the two-thirds threshold required to bypass the anti-defection law, handing their crucial parliamentary weight to the NDA.
For the central government, this isn't just about boosting their numbers ahead of high-stakes legislative battles like delimitation; it’s a deliberate attempt to build a regional buffer. The strategy is to turn the NCPI into a Bengal equivalent of the JD(U) or TDP—a secular frontend capable of courting minority voters in heavy-density districts who would otherwise never vote for the BJP.
But politics isn't a spreadsheet, and this math is bound to collision-test with reality on the ground. There is a fundamental difference between what is happening here and the political fault lines we saw in Maharashtra. When leaders like Eknath Shinde or Ajit Pawar split their parties, they did so as formidable grassroots operators, walking away with decades-old municipal patronage networks and fiercely loyal local cadres.
In stark contrast, these Bengal rebels are essentially parachute politicians and celebrity crowd-pullers. Their electoral currency was entirely borrowed from Mamata Banerjee’s personal charisma and the TMC’s organizational muscle. Strip that away, and they are left with a severe grassroots deficit—heads without a torso. Couple that with the reputational risk for the BJP, which just won an election by crusading against TMC misgovernance, and the alliance faces a serious backlash from its own core base. As Mamata Banerjee unleashes a fierce legal counter-offensive, the NCPI's survival hinges entirely on whether these leaders can build an organic, independent spine from scratch before 2029. Otherwise, they risk becoming a mere footnote in Bengal's political history.

The Order of the White Double Cross (Slovak: Rád Bieleho dvojkríža) is the highest state decoration of the Slovak Republic.
The order is awarded exclusively to foreign citizens.Conferred for outstanding services to Slovakia, enhancing its international standing, or strengthening bilateral relations.
I was landing in Mumbai, India's financial capital. The first thing I saw was a sea of slums.
I was landing in Delhi. Dusty air, poor AQI.
Same with Kolkata.
The moment I land outside India, even in Sri Lanka, Singapore, or Thailand, I see clean roads, low pollution, good infrastructure, and cities that make a great first impression.
Not a single Indian city comes close to that standard.
This historic picture is taken at 1 Woodburn Park, Sarat Chandra Bose's residence. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is seen with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Sarat Bose's conference room. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, whenever he came to Kolkata between 1928-... 1947, always used to reside at Sarat Bose's residence. In spite of having political differences with both Sarat Bose and Subhas Bose, he used to take the Bose's hospitality! The politicians of today should learn to behave in a civil manner with their rivals and opponents within & outside their political parties.
In 1946, elections were held for the Constituent Assembly, and the Indian National Congress emerged as the dominant party. It was established that the elected President of the Congress would be invited by the British to head the new Interim Government.
Before independence, Nehru was sworn in as the Vice-President of the Executive Council (essentially serving as the head of the government) under the British Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten, on September 2, 1946.
The Interim Government seamlessly transitioned into the sovereign government of independent India on August 15, 1947. This executive was backed by the Constituent Assembly, which had been formed to draft India's constitution.
