@DrDhruvchauhan@_sayema@gupta_rekha She has to scold doctors infront of the camera to show off, let her do her job. Otherwise how ll any politician convince public that they are concerned about them, only by blaming others.
Good morning. My day did not start well.
I received a distressing email from a young doctor.
"Dear Dr Abby,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent introduction of an MD program in Ayurveda (MD Ayurveda Manovigyan Evam Manasa Roga) at NIMHANS, an institution widely regarded as a premier center for evidence-based psychiatric and neuroscientific education.
Despite sending multiple emails to authorities including the National Medical Commission Chairman, Directorate of Medical Education Karnataka, Karnataka Medical Council, the Director and Dean of NIMHANS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Indian Medical Association, I have unfortunately not received any response yet.
This development raises serious concerns among practitioners of evidence-based medicine. Integrating fundamentally different systems of medicine, particularly within a premier national institute, risks blurring the line between scientifically validated practices and non-evidence-based approaches. If such initiatives continue unchecked, it may gradually influence other medical institutions across the country. I am particularly concerned about the apparent lack of response or intervention from the Indian Medical Association. As a representative body of modern medicine practitioners, IMA’s role in addressing such critical issues is essential.
I sincerely hope you will consider taking this matter forward and help safeguard the standards of evidence-based medical education in India.
Thank you."
Now, I cannot stop the Government from destroying what the scientific community has built over decades. It is easy for them to do this - to showcase nationalism, civilizational, traditional and cultural pride - to appeal to emotions of the people - to maintain a vote bank from a certain section of the population. But such acts slowly and steadily, erode scientific temperament and damage reputation of major institutions and demean/downgrade medical and research output from India. NIMHANS has always been a big target for pseudoscience infiltration and they are systematically taking over, in the name of integrative medicine.
I understand the active and current faculty and leadership at NIMHANS are castrated from voicing concerns, but I call out to the Alumni and the strong general medical bodies in Karnataka/India to prevent such courses from getting legitimacy in colleges of repute - because tomorrow, an Ayurvedic quack will proudly show a certificate of graduation from NIMHANS, similar to a DM or Mch graduate from the same institution. This is an insult to the scientific community who shed blood and tears to get into and complete gruelling training programs at NIMHANS.
Please tag the medical organizations who you think will have the balls to take this up. An MD course in Ayurveda should be isolated to All India Institute of Ayurveda and such third-rate institutions and not an institute of repute like NIMHANS.
As examples, I have attached excerpts from Ayurvedic teaching syllabus on "Ayurveda Psychiatry" and what these so-called "MD Ayurveda" graduates learn.
Tell me, is the promotion of this primitive, primal, inhumane, misogynistic, nauseating history of medicine past worth it?
An Additional District Magistrate (ADM) reportedly visited a clinic for inspection, asked the doctor’s name twice, and then raised his hand to slap him.

Medicines with a red line should NEVER be consumed without medical advice. Misuse of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance.

We're running an uncontrolled experiment on Indian children's brains.Every cough syrup. Every appetite stimulant. Anticholinergics blocking neurotransmitters in developing brains. The worst part? We're doing it to calm OUR anxiety, not cure THEIR illness. https://t.co/5c0uQqrKOZ
@arshiet Used to give in the beginning of my practice. Later got to know, if the problem is genuine they prefer coming to hospital, otherwise they call for silly things
Like the other day, one parent called me to ask if she can give water to her 7 month old baby after solid feeds
In 2022, a pregnant Indian tourist (not citizen) in Portugal died after being turned away from a maternity ward. Their health minister resigned within hours, taking moral responsibility.
There’s no such concept in India anymore. Twenty kids are dead, and forget legal responsibility, that never happens here, there’s no moral responsibility either. Nothing. The health minister should have resigned. There should have been mass firings, announcements of a CBI inquiry, fast-track justice, and sentencing.
And the insensitivity is next level. When someone asked the MP CM about the children’s deaths, he said, “Kal ki baat mat karo, aaj ki baat karo.” Say anything more against him, and he’ll claim there’s a conspiracy against him. That foreign funding is involved.
🚨 Legal Illiteracy & Injustice!
In Madhya Pradesh, a doctor has been arrested over the tragic #CoughSyrup deaths ,even though the real fault lies with drug manufacturers and regulatory failure.
As per @IMAIndiaOrg:
➡️ Doctors can’t test for drug contamination.
➡️ CDSCO & MPFDA failed to monitor toxic DEG levels.
➡️ Arresting a doctor for prescribing an approved drug sends a dangerous message to the medical fraternity.
Stop blaming doctors for system collapse.
Fix the regulators, not the healers!

🚨 Shocking Injustice!
11 children have died and instead of fixing the system, the government arrests the doctor who prescribed the medicine!
When will the authorities stop scapegoating doctors for system failures?
Where were the drug regulators, the quality checks, the government accountability?
Doctors are being made soft targets to hide administrative negligence.
Enough of this blame game — fix the system, not the saviors.

I have not seen any pilots get arrested for problem in aeroplanes,
I have not seen any driver getting arrested for Problems cars,
I have not seen any officer getting arrested for flaw in Laws,
But I have seen doctor arrested for Writing cough syrup.
Welcome to NEW India.
Welcome to the New India where a doctor is arrested today not for crime, but for prescribing a cough syrup to heal sick children .
His only fault was being unaware that he was supposed to check the quality and approval of syrup which is the work of govt and drug authorities who mint money from cheap drug suppliers
The syrup turned out to be poisonous a tragedy born from the company’s negligence not the doctor’s intent yet he is behind bars
The government has made him the scapegoat while the real culprits still walk free.
When the hands that heal are handcuffed and the ones that profit from death are protected justice itself is on life support.
MP police has arrested Dr Pravin Soni, a pediatrician accused of prescribing the contaminated Coldrif syrup that killed 11 children, charging him with culpable homicide.
Once again, the system is targeting the smallest and most visible link instead of examining institutional failure. How can a doctor be held responsible for a drug that was approved by the authorities, manufactured legally, supplied through govt channels, and stocked in licensed pharmacies?
If tomorrow a doctor prescribes a standard medicine like Paracetamol and that batch turns out to be contaminated, will the doctor be blamed for that too? That logic is absurd.
Accountability lies with the manufacturer, drug regulators (CDSCO, state FDA), supply authorities, and quality-control systems. Doctors have no role in formulation, testing, or distribution.
Now, if Dr Pravin Soni was violating service rules by doing private practice as a govt doctor, that is a separate issue and must be investigated. If he was prescribing a lesser-known drug due to financial incentives from the pharma company, that should also be probed. Those are valid grounds for disciplinary or legal action.
But making him the face of the tragedy and shielding the govt machinery responsible for the contaminated drug is nothing but scapegoating. I have no sympathy for the doctor personally, but using him as a substitute for real accountability is not justice.
