The work from my PhD in @LyndaErskine Lab has been published in @Dev_journal We discovered that CXCL12 is a crucial promoter for the crossing of retinal ganglion cell axons at the optic chiasm. A wonderful way to cap off the year!1/2

Losing either Cxcl12 or its receptor, Cxcr4, results in the misrouting of crossing axons at the midline, leading to a birth defect in the visual pathway.
This classic axon guidance experiment revealed the solid phenotype we studied, one of my fav figures to make! @Co_Biologists
