Exposure Visit of Geography Students to Weather Station at ARI’s Experimental Research Farm, Hol Farm

Geography students of Mugutrao Sahebrao Kakade College, Someshwarnagar (affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University) visited the Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at Agharkar Research Institute’s (ARI) Experimental Research Farm, Hol Farm on 8th April 2026 as part of their practical learning experience.

This interactive session deepened their understanding of agro-meteorological applications, highlighting how weather science supports farmers through forecasting services and agro-advisories. The exposure visit successfully connected classroom learning with real-world agricultural research and practices.

A successful crop demonstration of MACS 6222, a climate-resilient wheat variety developed by Agharkar Research Institute (ARI), was conducted at Deulgaon Raje (Daund) by MAHABEEJ.

Demonstrated on a farmer’s field, the variety showcased its high yield potential, disease resistance, and excellent grain quality, along with strong adaptability to local conditions.

Experts from ARI provided technical guidance on agronomic practices, seed production, and post-harvest management, interacting directly with farmers.

Farmers reported good chapati quality and yields of 25–32 quintals/acre, with increasing adoption in the region over the years.

The programme strengthened farmer awareness and promoted climate-resilient wheat cultivation for sustainable livelihoods.

आईसीएआर सोयाबीन फ्रंटलाइन डेमोस्ट्रेशन (एफएलडी) और पीपीवी एंड एफआर प्राधिकरण द्वारा प्रायोजित एक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम 04.10.2024 को होल फार्म में आयोजित किया गया था। राज्य कृषि विभाग के सदस्यों, कृषि-इनपुट डीलरों, एफपीओ, एसएचजी और कृषि महाविद्यालय के आरएडब्ल्यूई छात्रों सहित 150 उत्साही प्रतिभागियों ने प्रशिक्षण में भाग लिया!
