Pratap Singh Parmar, a retired Indian Army soldier originally from village Mangsu Chauras in Tehri Garhwal, lost contact with his family around the year 2000. For 25 years, this 90-year-old veteran has been living alone, earning his keep at a roadside dhaba in Mukerian, Punjab.

His son is believed to be Vinod Parmar, a teacher in Rudraprayag, who may have been searching for his father all these years.

You tried crypto. They slapped a 30% flat tax on gains, allowed no set-off of losses, and added 1% TDS on transfers.

You tried equities. Budget 2024 raised STCG from 15% to 20%, raised LTCG from 10% to 12.5%, increased STT on F&O, and also killed indexation for most other long-term capital gains.

You thought fine, I’ll diversify some savings abroad through LRS. They put 20% TCS on remittances above 10 lakhs for investments abroad.

You tried Sovereign Gold Bonds, because surely a government-issued, government-backed gold hedge would be the one clean instrument they would not mess with. Then Budget 2026 came along and removed the capital gains exemption for secondary market buyers.

And now the final insult.

The Prime Minister has publicly asked you to avoid buying physical gold for a year in the “national interest,” because gold imports use foreign exchange.

So let me get this straight. A middle class wagie earning in depreciating rupees, watching FD rates hover around 6.5% while real life inflation keeps eating his purchasing power, has now been told:

Crypto is taxed like a vice.

Equities are more expensive to hold and exit.

Foreign diversification gets hit with TCS.

SGBs are being wound down and tax-narrowed.

Buying physical gold is now unpatriotic.

Basically, every single exit from rupee depreciation has been systematically curtailed. You are expected to hold your savings in instruments the government controls, at returns the government sets, for a currency the government is rapidly inflating away.

"Respected Col Mukul,

This is to inform you about rampant corruption and harassment going on in the Bathinda AD Bde. The Cdr of the Bde is carrying out abuse of authority by carrying out misappropriation of funds and threatening COs. The treatment being given to the COs is lowering their confidence and is affecting the morale of the entire formation.  The COs are abused and threatened in front of junior officers who look at their COs as a role model. Over a period of past 14 months this Cdr has siphoned off a large amount of public funds in upkeep of his govt accommodation in Bathinda. He diverts welfare funds meant for the welfare of the troops to maintain his house in an extravagant manner. A lot of complaints against him have been forwarded by his victims to higher authorities however all have gone in vain. 

His wife is totally hands in gloves with him and harasses the administrative staff at her house to fulfil her unrealistic demands. Due to continuous abuse and harassment by the lady, the troops desist going at his house. The repercussions of which are to be faced by the COs. One of the examples is that  the work which can be carried out by MES has been performed by utilising Regimental and Public funds. 

Recently on 01 Apr 26, a party was thrown for all the high and mighties of  Bathinda in the name of AD Day which is actually celebrated on 10 January every year, the reason for it was to diffuse the situation of growing complaints against him and please the people up the chain. During the party, Cdr's wife had directed all the wives of the officers from the Formation to keep standing, not to have snacks and also to escort drinks to the guest ladies along with the stewards which is an unheard norm as per ethos of the armed forces. She harassed the ladies on WhatsApp groups and the same can be checked by the authorities at the appropriate level. 
The entire truth will come out if the things are not brushed under the carpet as is being done by the hierarchy and a proper inquiry is ordered against the Bde Cdr. 

I am keeping my identity classified since this person is very dangerous and has a lot of reach up the hierarchy and he can harm me to dangerous levels.

I want this message to reach Col Mukul Dev who is the only person who can help us out in this dire scenario.

Have you seen a 25 yr soldier with no eyes and no hands? Old parents and disabled elder sister, 27 yrs, on bed since last many years.

He is the only earning member.

In a training exercise, explosives exploded when he & 5 others, were loading it on Drone. Inbuilt safety of, warhead getting active, after safe distance of 500 mtrs, didn't work & accident happened.

We don't need a terrorist or war to attain disabilities.

Inquiry is going on, in TBRL, to find reasons of failure of safety mechanism but it will not bring back the eyes & hands of this soldier and both eyes of 1 JCO. 4 others also undergoing recovery multiple surgeries but I am not sure, how fit will they be in time to come.

In such cases, organisation @adgpi use to make some special arrangements to let them continue till superannuation and then ofcourse earn, tax free pension. This is the least one can and should do to keep the dignity of the brave warriors.

But now @nsitharaman ma'am is trying to change the rule.

So, if he is sent out to get tax free dispen, how and what he will do whole life? He will loose all support of org. No dignity, he may go in depression & may be extreme step.

If he is allowed to continue, he may learn to live a dignified life. But once he gets retired at the age of 42, he will get less money. No job ofcourse.
Then with growing age, when he will need support, he will not have money to even hire a helper..🥺.

Try imagining by being in his shoes. Close your eyes and pick up the glass of water, with your feet & see if you can drink even a glass of water?
