Middendorp warns SAFA against keeping Broos in Bafana setup
Well-travelled German coach Ernst Middendorp has warned the South African Football Association (SAFA) against retaining Hugo Broos in another role within the Bafana Bafana technical setup.
Broos recently confirmed that he will step down as Bafana head coach but admitted he would be open to remaining at SAFA in a different capacity. Reacting to those comments, Middendorp said such an arrangement would not be in the best interests of the national team.
"With all due respect to Hugo Broos and everything he has achieved with Bafana Bafana, this is a scenario that should not happen," Middendorp wrote on LinkedIn.
He argued that any new head coach and technical team should be given complete authority and independence from the moment they take charge. "If a new head coach and technical team are appointed, they must be given full authority, independence, and responsibility from day one," he said.
According to Middendorp, keeping Broos close to the senior national team would create the perception that the new coaching staff are constantly being monitored. "Every decision, every selection, and every result would be viewed through the lens of Hugo Broos' continued presence," he added.
Middendorp believes the best solution is for Broos to either remain as head coach with full responsibility or leave the setup entirely. "A successful transition requires clarity. The new technical leadership must be allowed to establish its own identity, culture, and decision-making processes without constant comparisons or the influence of its predecessor," he explained.
He concluded by saying, "Great leaders also know when to let the next generation lead."
Ironically, Middendorp himself served in a similar advisory role at Durban City last season while Gavin Hunt and later Sinethemba Badela were in charge of the team.
๐ซ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฆ FIFA has handed France vs Morocco, a World Cup quarter-final, to an all-Argentine officiating crew.
That's the problem, because FIFA usually ships in referees from a neutral confederation to keep a match like this clean.
This time it picked 5 officials from a country still trying to win the whole thing.
Argentina's Facundo Tello leads the lot tomorrow.
Referee, both assistants, fourth official, reserve. It's the first match at this World Cup run start to finish by a single nation.
The optics are rough.
Egypt's coach spent yesterday insisting the tournament was being bent to keep Argentina and Messi alive, and FIFA's answer, deliberate or not, was to staff a rival's quarter-final entirely with Argentine whistles.

Nearly 20 years after his death, the body of Ugandan musician Paul Job Kafeero was dug up from the grave for DNA testing to determine which of the 25 children he had were biologically his.
The legendary Ugandan musician died in 2007 at the age of 36.
For nearly 20 years, his 25 children and their mothers fought over his multi-billion Ugandan shilling estate, including land, houses, and music royalties.
The long standing dispute eventually led the court to order that his body be dug up and his bone and tissue samples were collected for DNA tests.
1st June 2026, it was dug up for test and 25th June 2026, the results were released.
Only 4 out of his 25 children were confirmed to be his biological children. The other 21 children were not his.

The public is being told lies that there are insufficient resources and budget to continue, yet they previously funded rogue politically motivated commissions of inquiries for years, costing billions of rands to taxpayers to fight their political opponents.
If those commissions could be extended repeatedly, why should this one end just as it appears to be examining serious allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and criminality within key institutions?
This commission has earned significant public interest because many citizens see it as an opportunity to expose systemic failures, corrupt public officials/officers and ensure that no one is above the law.
A heavily corrupt country like South Africa can not afford selective accountability. Every allegation regardless of who is implicated should be investigated thoroughly, fairly, and without political interference. If criminal networks have infiltrated state institutions, the public deserves to know.
The rule of law demands consistency. Justice can not stop when investigations become uncomfortable for some. The credibility of democratic institutions depends on following the evidence wherever it leads, without fear or favour. Isn't that what's said in that constitution? The people deserve nothing less than the full truth.
Mafias are really tiring! They know exactly what the Madlanga Commission is uncovering and have done everything to stop it from investigating further yet they claim to be against corruption. Mxm!

Something big is brewing. A cryptic voicenote has been shared about Nimrod Nkosi looking for a new job.
On the voicenote Nimrod bemoans that after 20 years in the industry, he is contemplating taking a different direction.
Not clear on what that would be, but re tlabe rele daar when "Mr Lotto" finally reveals his moves.
Looks like something big is coming.
I was in a public toilet and had just sat down, when I heard a voice from the next cubicle, he said "Hi! how are you?" Embarrassed, I said, "I'm doing fine". The voice said "So what are you up to?". I said, "Just doing the same as you, sitting here!".
He said, "Can I come over?". Annoyed, I said, "rather busy right now". The voice said, "Listen, I will have to call you back, there's an idiot next door answering all my questions."
You know sometimes English can be a barrier in one articulating their ideas and thoughts clearly. And I'm not saying it is the case with the General. Assuming it could be though, I can assure you that even if General Sibiya was talking freely in isiZulu or any African language he's comfortable in, he would still not make sense or persuade the Commission. The facts are not factoring. Magagula gave Commissioners clear facts with his broken English and cleared his name.
