@aidanmcnelis The constant defence of it that is is "a rural pursuit" like we all spend every Sunday out hunting foxes is an outrageous claim and survives every electoral campaign, much like the dog racing. These are niche AF activities everywhere and need calling out far more forcefully.
@pyjamas_black Resilient in a way. Like the McGregor case he has his hopes set on a certain narrative or occurrence. Doesn't happen and he just cracks on regardless. The addiction to pure online dosery is just too great. No topic he will shun no matter how big an eejit it makes him look. Mad.
@pyjamas_black Thank you Ewan for warning us about this need for online attention that exists out there and well done for never falling into such a trap
@itsnotjoejoe@pyjamas_black 60% of the electorate are not interested in FFG and there's no structure to pounce on that. In 5 years no alternative was produced. That's fact! A Pringle situation in most constituencies. A proper left block and there'd be no Labour or SF 2/3 or Soc Dem fighting for a last seat.
@pyjamas_black Nobody wants to admit this it seems but the failure to construct a left platform knowing FG FF now transfer to each other made result completely inevitable. In the case of Pringle, SF ran Jordan from right beside him and it squeezed him when Mcconalogue absolutely would have lost
@phylmurphy@wickedfairysad@angiebeeb Tbh Thomas was squeezed by SF running a 3rd candidate right beside him allied with the emergence of Redress. It all changed 4 years ago since we now know FFG transfer to each other. The left as a platform unfortunately offered voters nothing, only individually which is pointless.
@EwanMacKenna Even seen shouts that Hutch was elected on here (since disappeared strangely) despite it being pretty obvious he'd be overtaken with the last couple of transfers. Geniuses alright.
@MarkLTighe It isn't a benign anthem. He's dismissing a large number of his compatriots as being suitable to ever manage England. Unless he thinks you should just sing words regardless of personal beliefs in which case... journalism eh
@ewancampbell98 @AFCathal@Galaxatron@henrywinter Not fussed about Irish anthem tbh. Its ok. Lyrically like most others- soldiers and triumph etc. If it was about lording up a PRESENT DAY jug-eared product of a family of married cousins & raving about how more special he is than everyone you can believe id be silent as a statue
@ewancampbell98 @AFCathal@Galaxatron@henrywinter Think he's probably a thick footballer who doesn't think about it too much /he's figured it's not worth the hassle from the cry baby cranks out there to not do it. Imagine singing something you fundamentally don't believe in. Lol. Have to wonder how far that extends with people.
@ewancampbell98 @AFCathal@Galaxatron@henrywinter Even forgetting about the Irish/English thing what if he's just not a Royalist? Like loads of English people btw. Why would anyone who doesn't believe in the idea of a monarchy sing it?
@OwenCallan Getting worse for him. Not seen as a dissenting voice at all, just a complete afterthought now. A shrug & "oh.. him?" with any serious folk now. Says it all that a "sports" journo has had barely any opinions all games bar the one that fits with his full time culture war garbage.
