If abusing three Arunachali girls with racial slurs in Delhi is “not about racial discrimination,” then what is it about?
The video speaks. Identity was targeted. Dignity was attacked.
Regret after going viral is not accountability. Feeling “mentally disturbed” now does not erase the trauma inflicted on the victims.
Stop minimising racism. Stand with the victims, not the narrative.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has strongly condemned the incident in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, in which three women tenants from Arunachal Pradesh were subjected to racial slurs and abuse by their neighbours.
Speaking to the media on February 23, he said discrimination against people from the Northeast is “unacceptable” and “must stop.” He also stressed the need for greater awareness and mutual respect and urged citizens to speak out against such incidents, but without resorting to abusive language themselves.
The episode reportedly began on February 20, during electrical and air-conditioning work at the rented fourth-floor flat of the women. According to police and complaints lodged by the tenants, dust and debris from the work triggered an argument with the residents of the flat below, identified as Harsh Singh and his wife Ruby Jain. The dispute quickly escalated, with the women alleging that they were insulted on the basis of their Northeastern identity and subjected to derogatory remarks.
Video clips circulating on social media show exchanges in which the neighbours allegedly called the women offensive names and questioned their character, including accusing them of running a massage parlour and implying that they were “sex workers”. The complainants said the comments went beyond a mere neighbourly quarrel and constituted racial bias.
